For those into the Flesch reading scales, "employ" would have the same value as "use" (one or two syllables considered the same for readability) and often works, depending on the context.
Free editing advice here. Don't trust Grammarly. I been around longer than them.
And the worst editor I ever knew could tell you the name of every tense in the book. People ask me that stuff and I say, "How the hell would I know?"
I edit mostly by ear, and no one has ever complained. And the usual "which-hunting" (see Fowler's Modern English Usage [19th c.]).
I'm doing my level best to make sure books include full sentences. "Not writing like this. Which is for idiots. Remember what my bestie said? Like my spouse for example, did I ever tell you about the time he did this at the dinner table and I created a whole chapter around it in my PhD thesis? Yeah. That One. With the chicken wings."
This is my problem with academia moving into trade publishing. They dumb it down to the point of, well, the reading level of much of America these days, but those people don't generally read self-help theology books. So why not write like periods and capital letters are signs of what's happening on the page? And your audience has a 10th-grade reading level.
I also wonder if it's social media. But unless this is considered social media, I don't know much about.
Even the drop-dead idiots when they are not drunk or fantasizing write in complete sentences.
Well, except for Babbles, and he could if he wanted to. I'm sure he does on other sites, but he chooses to play the fool here.
