I don't care about immigrants, as long as they are legally coming into America.
They've been coming to America as long as there has been a country. It matters
little to me what color they are, as long as they are willing to work and pay
taxes like the rest of us.
Yes, there is a problem w illegal immigration that dates back decades.
Is it an 'overwhelming problem displacing millions of American workers' as the
GOP has drummed it up to be? Of course NOT.
Unless you work picking crops in the fields, or work in the food service industry
(especially Mexican and Latino foods), or unless you work as a carpenter, you
will likely not run across much increased competition.
There are few to any white (or black) Americans picking crops anymore by hand.
Likewise, there are few Americans directly competing with Mexicans in running Mexican
or Latino style restaurants. Maybe some down in Arizona, TX, and the desert southwest.
All told, both the crop pickers, and the Latino restaurants, represent what, one or two
percent of the American population? Does that sound like an 'invasion of displacement'? No.
So, the only industries that I can see with an actual gripe or beef are the construction industries,
and the lawn care/lawn service industries, beef packing plants, etc. And America has always been about competition, and new groups competing with, and sometimes displacing older more established groups.
Unfortunately, competition is a fact of American life in the workplace. It extends across all races
and groups. To expect NO competition is a fallacy and an unreasonable expectation. So I have little
problem with new groups coming into America, as long as they do so legally. Heck, in the I.T. related
fields that I work in, it is truly a multicultural mix of people. And I'm not running around whining about it.
