Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, September 17, 2025

FBI Director Kash Patel said Tuesday that the bureau has "no credible information" that sex offender Jeffrey Epstein trafficked young women to other individuals beside himself. He also said the "original sin" in the Epstein case was former Trump cabinet member Alex Acosta's handling of it.

NEW: FBI Director Kash Patel says recent court orders " related to a few dozen pages of grand jury material " are preventing him from releasing the FBI's massive trove of Epstein files. That's not what the courts actually said.

From "Trump team finds someone to throw under the bus on Epstein" (www.cnn.com):

Tuesday's Senate hearing featuring FBI Director Kash Patel didn't shed a ton of light on the substance of the Jeffrey Epstein files. But it was hugely significant in another way: It signaled a new political effort by the Trump administration to ascribe blame.

And the target is none other than a former top Trump administration official " one whom Trump very notably once defended.

Alex Acosta is scheduled to testify behind closed doors this Friday.

It's obvious there's a coverup going on.
And the identities of some of the cast of characters is, likewise, obvious.
They should just get it over with, lance the boil, cut to the chase and tell us what it is.
That they continue this absurd coverup tells you something.
What it tells us ... no, what it bellows out is this:
The coverup is designed to bury some truly nasty information.
Stuff so bad it might affect the puke reflex even on a lot of MAGAts.
And that's bad.

Isn't a little ironic that with Trump as President we're getting closer to the truth than we were when Biden was president?

Or maybe it's just an illusion we are getting closer, what with these hearings and all the coverage it's getting, the accusers coming forward in interviews, etc.

At the end of the day there is no guarantee we will ever really know more than we do now.

I'd love to see the files released just as much as anybody else. Covering for Trump seems to be the theory but there are folks without a political axe to grind who suggest there are other world figures who were being extorted by Epstein. Not sure where that takes us but I'd love to see the files released.

Because Trump loves to be hated......I'm not shocked at his behavior even if there is nothing in those files. Pretending he's worried about them, his friends (LOL....friends), anybody the US has a vested interest in NOT seeing them implicated in the banging of 13 year olds, etc.

IOW, if in fact there is nothing in those files.....he would still act this way.

Now, if there is something in those files....then that would explain his behavior.

But it doesn't explain Biden's. At least not to anybody's satisfaction.

remember.....most folks who are so hot to see these files are 100% sure of what's in them.

#25 | POSTED BY LFTHNDTHRDS

No he isn't gasbag. And this is why it's NOT A FAIR QUESTION.

Biden did not push for an investigation into the Epstein files because that's not his job.

In the U.S. system, it is a long-standing norm for presidents not to direct the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate specific individuals. This practice protects the DOJ's independence and prevents the weaponization of law enforcement for political purposes.

The President has a constitutional duty to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed" but is not meant to control specific criminal prosecutions. Directing the DOJ to investigate particular individuals target political rivals or protect allies is an abuse of that power.

A functional democracy relies on the public's trust that justice is applied impartially, based solely on the facts and the law. Presidential interference could undermine this trust by creating the perception that political loyalty, rather than objective facts, influences legal outcomes.

Trumpy and his minions are obviously not interested in maintaining a functional democracy.

So because Trump is a crook and Biden wasn't....that's the difference? Trump should direct the DOJ to release the files, which you admit is wrong and outside the scope of the president's responsibilities, but since he doesn't give a shit anyway....then do it.

But since Biden wouldn't do such a thing.....it's not fair to make him do something unethical and outside the scope of his office.

Sure. Can't disagree with that.

But. You ask why Biden did not release the files.

Because Biden respected the rule of law and did not conspire with the DOJ like they were his personal lawyers. He let the DOJ investigations take their natural course. As he should have.

Why don't you ask a reasonable and valid question like why didn't democrats demand their release during the Biden administration?

Eb,

During Biden's tenure it was an active investigation. During an active investigation that type of information should not be released because it could undermine future prosecutions. But the investigation was closed in July of this year. Once the investigation is closed, there is no reason not to release the files.

On a more pragmatic note, conservatives love to claim lawfare. If Biden had released files saying that Trump was implicated with Epstein, Trump would have claimed it was a "Democrat Hoax" and all the obedient little conservative sheep would have believed him. Biden releasing the files would have made it LESS likely that justice would have been served. But now that it is Trump refusing to release the files even the obedient little conservative sheep are having a hard time going along with it being a "Democrat Hoax" (even though Trump is STILL claiming that is the case).

#74 | Posted by gtbritishskull at 2025-09-17 04:17 PM | Reply

I've got questions about why the Biden Administration didn't do a lot of things. But since he's no longer POTUS, those questions are mostly irrelevant (a deflection). There's only one party that can release the information at this point. And they should do so.

#75 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2025-09-17 04:18 PM | Reply

I do believe that Biden would have had the power and right to overrule the DOJ and release the files. And maybe you blame him for not doing that. But, to me, the investigation being active during his tenure gives him enough cover so that I do not believe he was wrong for not releasing them.

OTOH, the investigation is officially closed now, so Trump does not have that cover. AND Trump promised to release the files, so him refusing to do so now definitely makes you wonder.

"Kash Patel says court orders bar him from releasing the Epstein files. Judges have said otherwise.

But Patel appears to be mischaracterizing those recent court orders, which came amid a hurried effort by the Trump administration to ask federal judges for permission to release grand jury materials stemming from the case of Epstein and co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell.

Judges considering the ask said it appeared to be an effort to confuse the public, noting that the materials consisted of only a few dozen pages of hearsay " much of which became public during court proceedings " and were dwarfed by the FBI's massive trove of records."

''
"Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) pressed Patel on this point, suggesting that the grand jury orders had no bearing on his ability to release more materials. Patel then cited other sealed orders and protective orders from Epstein and Maxwell's criminal cases that he said barred the release of additional information.

"Why are you not going to a court, like you did for the grand jury testimony?" Goldman wondered. "You are hiding the Epstein files, Mr. Patel. You are part of the cover-up."

You have no credibility. Raetards, the whole lot of you.

An explanation? Ok.

The records were sealed by a Florida judge until less than 3 months before the 2024 election.

This is just the latest lie from the Trump's Admin to try to quash any investigation into his years as Jeffrey's Pedo Wingman.

And guess what, Independents that supported him are dropping like flies in his Polls.

Kash Patel wrote a children's book about the 2020 election being stolen.

Apparently that was enough to qualify him for being the head of the FBI.

Talk about a DEI higher.

You were the stupid f^*%s who called everyone pedo for about a year and a half when you were srupid enough to believe it was only Dems and LiBruLz in the list.

Now you defend the pedos when it's clear your boy is a central player.

So GFY, pedo.

-But the investigation was closed in July of this year. Once the investigation is closed, there is no reason not to release the files.
