Iran-backed Houthis seized Mocha and are now closing in on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a chokepoint that carries a quarter of the world's oil. This is a major development.[image or embed]

"As recently as last week, the Iran war appeared to be turning slightly in America's favor," writes Robert Worth. "The Houthis - the Yemen-based militia that is Iran's most formidable remaining ally in the Middle East - were under pressure from their local rivals, and the Saudi air force was pounding them with air strikes. The president of Yemen's internationally recognized government issued a triumphant statement declaring that the Houthis' miscalculations will open the door to their complete collapse.' With their Houthi partners wounded, Iran's leaders would have one more reason to back down and agree to Donald Trump's terms."

Yesterday morning, those delusions drifted away like smoke as Houthi forces broke through their enemies' defenses and seized the towns and islands around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the most important maritime choke points in the world.

That loss leaves Trump, who had been hoping to win back control of the Strait of Hormuz from Iran, with a bitter surprise. His enemies now control both of the two important straits in the Middle East, through which a combined total of about a third of the world's oil shipments pass every day.

The United States has the most effective Navy in the world. This sharp instrument is not being used correctly. The issue is a failure of leadership. I know that SOMEBODY is thinking about the war, but it's not Donald Trump. The purge of military leaders was in part undertaken so that Donald and Pete have no one of standing left to critique their lack of energy, competence, or plan.

So what have we got? A MAGA military that stands around making mean faces at people and things while pretending the United States is, at this moment in time, exceptional.

We aren't exceptional now. We are being hag-ridden by preening, racist, losers. We are getting what we deserve until we do something about it. The midterms are only the start of getting rid of this cancer.

Donald Trump has ample stage in which to display his genius. If he can stay awake. If he can really understand what day of the week this is. If he can distract his increasingly rare attention from architectural projects. If he can acknowledge that there is a God, and it's not him.

But the world knows he cannot and will not do any of these things. He is 250 or more pounds of dead weight around the necks of the rest of us. He is one of those characters in life for whom the rationale to have ever been born is obscure.

We get nowhere, we have nothing, with him and MAGA. Support for them is support for the eventual extinction of this country.

I'd say a new front has opened up in our special military operation.

The Saudi and US backed Yemeni military said they'd destroy the Houthis, now they're in retreat with Houthis expected to follow them east.

Iran has been preparing for this conflict for over 40 years. After 9-11 they knew it was just a matter of time until Zionists and the MIC found someone stupid and compromised enough in the WH to take the bait.

Meanwhile China continues to turn circles around America in everything and wake up each morning in awe of their sudden good fortune.

A f***-up of epic proportions': Blame game begins after Iran-backed Huthis' lightning advance down Red Sea coast
www.egyptindependent.com

... The desperate pleas for air cover from Yemeni generals started coming mid-morning on Thursday. An advance by the Iran-backed Huthis toward Yemen's strategic port city of Mocha was in full swing, and backup support from chief ally Saudi Arabia was nowhere in sight.

"The Huthis committed everything they had " waves upon waves of fighters ... along with their available ballistic missiles and weapons," a senior Yemeni source attached to their military forces told CNN. The source said he contacted the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and was assured the US was "watching the situation closely and that Saudi air support was coming."

"But the air support never came," the source said. "And Mocha has now fallen."

Hours later, on Friday, the Huthis captured another key coastal asset, Perim Island, at the mouth of the Red Sea. The island splits the Bab al-Mandeb Strait in two, giving Tehran de facto control over another key shipping route.

The Huthis' rapid advance amounts to an extraordinary 36 hours in a conflict that had been largely on ice for years. But the kindling for renewed fighting had been laid for months amid the conflict between the United States and Iran, as Tehran seeks to use oil prices -- and their impact on the global economy -- as leverage.

Now, Yemen and the Red Sea have the potential to become a true second front in the Iran war. ...

I would not worry about the Marines. They can handle whatever job you assign them. If you give them a clear mission and the tools and support they need they will get the job done. But you are right that the Marines job is just to take the ground. It's up to the rest of the Defense Dept to hold it.

So I would not worry about the Marines. They can certainly take the Island.

But I would worry about the Deciderer who has their lives in his tiny sweaty hands and his total lack of strategic intelligence and incompetence.

Watched a few videos of the Houthis and they're mostly in sandals, or bare foot, saggy clothes, and Soviet era AKs and they're kicking the --- the US-Saudi backed Yemeni army.

They could have said the videos were from Afghanistan after we left and I wouldn't know the difference. I even watched them inspecting recovered US hardware left behind from the fleeing Yemeni army.

If we can't enough allies to fight for their own country in any meaningful way, we should leave the region.

As far as the Saudis go, I understand asking the US for help since we're the ones that kicked the shia wasp nest. But the Saudis have, at least on paper, a respectable military with around 400 fighter jets. Let them Saudis at least give it the old college try. After all, blowing stuff up with planes comes naturally to them.

Sounds like Trump wants to get along with the Houthis, which honestly, I can get behind. We should get along with the Iranians too, or at least just leave them alone.

This Monday the Gulf states will be meeting with Iran, apparently, to reach separate agreements to end the fighting.

We are not participating.

Our allies are abandoning us

Saudi Arabia came hat in hand begging Piggy to help them against the Houthis

Piggy said no

Saudi Arabia communicated to the Iranian militias in Iraq that they wouldn't retaliate for the attack on their pipeline

A high ranking naval officer admitted that our base in Bahrain was destroyed and there is no plan to repair it.

Iran's proxy in Yemen seems to be on the brink of seizing control of that country.

To sum up, we have lost the initiative, Iran has seized the initiative. Iran is projecting power throughout the regions. We are fleeing from the region. Our "allies" are looking for a separate peace. Iran and it's proxies control 2 of the 3 exits from the ME for oil. Saudi Arabia's oil is cutoff

this is what defeat looks like

Saudi Arabia has few options as it faces mounting threats from Iran and its allies

... A lightning advance by Houthi rebels threatens a crucial Red Sea shipping route. Drone attacks blamed on Iraqi militias have forced the closure of a major pipeline, and Iran is still disrupting the Strait of Hormuz.

It's a nightmare scenario for Saudi Arabia, and it has sent jitters through global markets.

The Saudis' most essential ally, the United States, has been unpredictable and sometimes unreliable. U.S. President Donald Trump seems reluctant to widen an already unpopular and stalemated Mideast war ahead of congressional elections. For Iran, the rebels' advance and closure of the pipeline ramp up global economic pressure as its grip over the Strait of Hormuz has been loosened. ...

John,

"USA is geriatric, for the remainder of its life it will exist as a debt slave until all resources are exhausted."

That's a pretty absolute prediction for a future that is becoming increasingly difficult to predict. The US has debt and resource problems, but history has shown that nothing is permanent.

My opinion is that we shouldn't underestimate the next generation's ability to find solutions appropriate to the times. Every generation inherits problems that the previous generation didn't fix or actually caused.

Donald Trump is a malignant narcissistic Sociopath.

In many ways he does not think other people actually exist.

He has acted throughout his second term as if he wants to solidify a legacy that will outlast him, because even in his sick demented mind he knows no one will honor him after he dies.

That is why he is obsessed with the ballroom and the arch and renaming ----.

There would be no clearer legacy then using a nuclear weapon.

In his sick, demented mind he would perceive himself as having the unique strength to use one-a historic figure. He thinks of himself in terms of the worst conquerors in history.

He is a very short-term thinker; long term strategic thinking does not occur to him.

There is no military solution to Iran.

Iran is kicking our ass. We are losing. Badly.

Piggy cannot, will not, accept defeat. He never has and never will. That is the essence of who he is.

Am I saying it is likely? Not at all

I am saying that the thought he wouldn't use one is simply insane.

I think some of the prime motivators to him would be the impact on him personally-the corruption and grift he is perpetrating, the bribes coming in from middle eastern dictatorships, the fact that using a nuke MAY even get republicans to support getting rid of him (long shot but who knows).

As for him saying he wouldn't, well that is just silly to think that means anything.

Trump Whines To The Irish About Election He Lost
President Donald Trump whined about the 2020 presidential election he lost while on a weekend trip in Ireland.

"Even though we got hit at the end with the COVID, we had the greatest economy we've ever had," Trump mumbled during Saturday remarks from Ireland.

"And even with COVID, the stock market was the highest it's ever been when I left office. And then we had a rigged election, as you know. It was totally rigged. Because I won three times, I didn't win twice. I won three times," Trump continued.

People need to understand what is happening.

America is losing.

Badly

Iran has seized the initiative from us.

That is just astounding.

For like 100+ years we have projected military power. We have ALWAYS had the military force to project and impose our will.

That is no longer the case

Drone and ballistic missile warfare has thrown that out the window.

Yes, we still have a HUGELY powerful military

But the form of our military, it's basic premise is thrown out the window.

We base our military power and thus our foreign policy and thus our economic power on the projection of power from a worldwide network of bases.

that is no longer feasible.

Any country with a capacity to produce drones on a substantial level completely checks that power. We cannot have carriers within range of drone swarms. We cannot have bases within range of ballistic missiles.

That means we cannot have bases within range of Russia, Iran, China and soon more countries

That means the most basic assumption of our military projection is useless

#51 | Posted by truthhurts at 2026-09-12 04:12 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

The impact of that cannot be overstated.

America without its military projection is not as powerful

Our economic power rests, in significant part, on our military power. We give protection, they give economic support/investment.

If we do not have the military power, the economic relationships will dry up.

Take Japan as an example

We have underpinned their defense since WW2.

As a result, Japan has been a major buyer of our bonds

You know the very money we use to function.

If we cannot protect them (and we are giving them hard facts that we cannot or will not-pulling defensive missile systems and a carrier from the western pacific) they will by necessity seek protection elsewhere-like I don't know China.

Same with South Korea

We lose South Korea and Japan, Taiwan may willingly join China to avoid being invaded.

There goes our defense, technology and AI industries-Taiwan makes the microchips we use.

This is NOT a fantasy, this is happening, now, as we speak.

Japan and SK have been hit hard by our Iran war and the oil disruption. How long before they decide to stop buying our bonds?

#52 | Posted by truthhurts at 2026-09-12 04:23 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

People in his administration know this.

On some level, the occasionally rational piggy realizes it too.

But, you see, that is the problem with defeat, you no longer are in charge of your destiny.

We have lost our ME bases

We are losing our ME allies.

These losses are not something that are easily mended

FFS Piggy spit is Saudi Arabia's face. As vile a regime the Saudis are they have been our partners-buying our ----

You think SA doesn't have options other than the US? When the primary thing we provided them was security?

You think SA isn't in danger of an uprising if the economy collapses cause they can't sell oil?

the Emiratis and Bahrain and Kuwait are desperate for deals with Iran.

Kuwait, who owes its existence to the US will run from us

If you can't comprehend the danger we face, you really need education

- Iran, seizing on its sudden good fortune, gets the fast upper hand in the region and has its proxies help themselves to anything formerly supported by the USA, possibly ending American presence and influence in the Arab world

Let's start militarily

We cannot win militarily

What are our options

1. Ground assault ain't gonna happen. In fact, even the possibility of a ground invasion is beyond fanciful. We simply do not have the troops to do it and have exactly zero allies willing to put their lives on the line to that end.

2. Limited ground action, i.e. seizing territory-strategic dead end. There is no land that could induce Iran to surrender. Kharg Island? NOPE. To say nothing of the challenges at assaulting it and putting our troops as sitting ducks, it will achieve exactly 1 thing. Iran will level the gulf state's energy infrastructure

3. Concerted air offensive-Iran already took the worst America and Israel could inflict on us and hit back hard enough to induce Piggy to surrender with the Memorandum of Understanding-you know, the surrender document. We do not have the stand-off offensive or defensive missile supply. Full stop

4. Tit-for-tat attacks-low intensity ongoing bombing campaign. Iran has a distinct advantage in this regard as their munition supplies are not strained and they have a plethora of targets and other options, i.e. Houthis

5. Blockade-isn't working, Iran has been an isolated country for decades and is prepared to sacrifice. $5 per gallon fuel is making Americans cry surrender

6. That leaves us with the nuclear bomb issue. Piggy may get that desperate. Will Piggy use 1 leaving iran with 29 other missile locations unhit able to respond and destroy as much as they can? Or will Piggy use 30 nukes to hit the 30 buried missile locations inflicting a globally devastating nuclear winter.

Nope no military solution

Diplomacy?
HA

We are losing this war too.

1. China and Russia, who can aid Iran without worry of response are by far sufficient to provide Iran with enough to carry on any fight. They are completely and utterly motivated to harm the US through Iran. make no mistake of it. Do you think Piggy would dare sanction China over Iran? HA

2. The Guld states are looking for the exit door in their relationship to the US. We have demonstrated for the world to see our complete and utter inability to defend them. to add insult to injury we stripped their defenses and prioritized Israel's defenses with the limited defensive munitions we were able to supply. The Gulf states are looking for separate peace with Iran

3. Our primary ally Israel is a pariah on the world stage

4. Our pacific allies see America removing missile defense systems and carriers from the pacific. Compound that with THEY are suffering the worst of the economic price of the war. They have options

5. Piggy has insulted and threatened our NATO allies. We freaking threatened to invade Greenland to the point that our allies were putting sacrificial lamb soldiers on the island to bleed and die if we invaded

No, no one else is going to save us

Please, someone tell me where my short analysis is wrong. i would LOVE to see some other options or to be wrong with my conclusions.

Then there is this simple fact

We, America, started this illegal, unjust, immoral, unjustifiable war of aggression with a cowardly sneak attack, during negotiations (for the second time mind you) that murdered their leader and the head of their country's primary religion along with young children. We have committed multiple war crimes. We have threatened more war crimes. We have proven ourselves completely untrustworthy. We have provided unquestioning support to a genocidal regime.

Winning? What does that even mean?

Ready for the fun question? When we Dems have power... do we uh.. surrender? or actually try to win?

I have answered your question, now answer one of mine

Why do you think winning or losing is in our power?

Military Defeat is like Death.

Unless it's Suicide we have No Control over it. Even then the "Control" is just Timing.

It happens and the Survivors adjust.

History is full of Proud Aggressive Assholes.

They are Mostly all Dead.

And HATED.

"From a marketing point of view, you don't introduce new products in August."

Well, air power alone ain't gonna do it. Which brings up that old standby: boots on the ground.

Andrew Carr and his crew spent quite a bit of time carefully preparing the ground for marketing their ground war in Iraq. Trump and his sorry lot spent zero time preparing Americans for their current misadventure. In no way have they got folks geared up for that sort of tomfoolery.

By the way, which branch of the armed forces is crypto phenom Barroom Trump eyeing?
