By being a Republican who denies very obvious truths.

You called it "incarceration.". Like that's just what incarceration means. Slavery is part and parcel to your definition of inmate -- like inmates the world over are probably enslaved too, right? Just completely glossing over the American history and American Exceptionalism on display here:

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

The carve-out for slavery is right there in plain language.
You noticed, right?

You just don't want to call them "slaves."
You probably want to call them "incarcerated individuals subject to enslavement" or something like that.
"Slaves" must sound icky to you. Not sure why. Your party is a huge proponent of "prison labor."
