Tuberville lost all creditably for his attacks on US service personnel, by restricting the ability of congress to approve promotions for the higher ranked members of the military. All because the military was paying traveling expenses for the soldiers who wanted an abortion and couldn't get it in a red state. In the process he put this nations' security at risk. Soldiers have literally walked away from service when their time came up because they couldn't afford the military way of life and were not awarded for their hard work.

So Tuberville I pay no attention to. He needs a political topic now to stay current.

Vlad was asked about why he invaded Ukraine... and gave a 30 minute history lesson on why it belonged to him, never once mentioning that he was "forced" by NATO or anyone else to invade.

Tuberville is a Russian puppet, just like all the other Trumpers.

These are the same America Firsters that wanted the US to let the Axis Powers take over the rest of the world... before they came for America.

From Russia's perspective, NATO expansion, and the geopolitical inversion of yet another border country, they were forced to do this to stabilize influence on their borders.

Don't worry, we will be forced to recognize that when Ukraine has to end in a negotiated solution.

NATO expansion increased in an unprecedented way after Vlad started using his Africa military techniques in Ukraine.

This did not stabilize the influence near his border, it increased.

Not to mention his decreased influence around the world.... well, except with Republicans.

Maybe. Up to the people of Ukraine to decide.

When this all started, the West was expecting a Ukrainian insurgent campaign at best (I called it their Afghanistan 2.0/Vietnam) but the Ukrainians decided otherwise.

Yeah, Russia sucks, but putting them in NATO also creates pretexts for conflict, like Cuba, which we tried to overthrow with a CIA mission. Remember when Bush invited Ukraine to join NATO? It was 2008. That was Russia's stated red line, and when they lost political alignment during a CIA supported revolution, they launched an invasion. When that invasion did kick off, as if by magic, Ukraine had organized special forces supported by US AWACS launching multi-pronged attacks against Russian airborne units, and the country was flooded with Javelin anti-tank missiles that showed up faster than the Russians could blink.

Yeah. Russia issues a lot of
China's Final Warnings. But at the end of the day, Russia is a pathetic petro-state that has nothing to back up their threats other than millions of men they're willing to throw into the meat grinder and their substandard equipment. Maybe that's enough to take on the poorest nation in Europe, but nothing serious for NATO to worry about.

Russia mounted a massive PR campaign prior to its invasion of Ukraine, and included in that was the domination of Ukrainian politics by the Putin pleasing President Viktor Fedorovych Yanukovych, who ran away to Moscow after the Ukrainian people caught on to the fact he was a Putin plant. He was also helped by Paul Manafort who worked to get Trump elected in 2016.
One has to consider that Putin also has America in his sights if Trump gets back in.

FWIW, I find SitzKrieg's contributions helpful and interesting. Nice to see comments that aren't just wishful thinking. The reality is that Ukrainians are out-manned and hurting right now and its up to the west to step up.

Unfortunately, our country is borderline useless because the GOP has decided to act as a fifth column and assist PoohtyPants with his invasion. So I'll add that to my list of reasons why I'll probably never vote for a Republican in my lifetime.

It's really hard to predict with any certainty which way this will go. The Europeans are more wary now of the threat Russia poses to them, but they're still very hesitant to take the action that's needed, especially with the uncertainty of the next election and schizophrenic foreign policy of the USA. We've got Congress-critters in one party who are openly sympathetic to Putin, as well as plenty on the other side who're susceptible to his propaganda (like the pro-Palestinian and pro-fake-woke stuff).

#41 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-02-15 09:43 PM | Reply

At this point, the reasons for the war starting don't really matter (Putin has been clear from day 1). What matters is that Ukraine is being slaughtered and has no hope of victory. Top military leaders are being fired and Zelensky is afraid of a coup (and subsequent Trotsky treatment) - which is also why he is afraid to admit defeat and end this for the good of his country. I said before - the likely result will be the partitioning of Ukraine and in the Tucker interview, Putin basically told Hungary, Romania, and Poland to grab the land now. This is still the most likely outcome - and no amount of money or military aid outside of US boots on the ground can stop it.

"From Russia's perspective, NATO expansion, and the geopolitical inversion of yet another border country, they were forced to do this to stabilize influence on their borders."

NATO expansion?

NATO expansion wasn't a function of western countries wanting to take control of eastern Europe. It was Eastern Europe looking for protection from a nation that was increasingly revanchist and had nothing to hang their hat on other than they had been part of some ------ empire.

From Russia's perspective, re-collecting the lost property of the Russian empire is becoming increasingly difficult, unless they want to risk a war with the west.

The thing is, none of these countries want anything to do with Russia. They've made that clear. Hell, Ukraine is fighting like a rabid wolf, and that's the most "Russian" country in the region. I can't imagine what would happen if the commies went after Poland or Finland.
