This is how we know Lumpers virtue signal about accepting different cultures.

I don't particularly think shooting a puppy is something I would do.

But where I come from, having canine for dinner isn't unheard of, sorry but we are a different culture.

Farmers are a different culture, and to denigrate it without understanding it is what I find hilarious about Lumpers. Claiming they "accept other cultures", is nothing more than a lie.

Culture and Sadism are not the same. Should we tolerate human sacrifice in the name of "culture".

How about Suttee,or the Kali death cult. Should those be accepted? Or Tolerated?

Noem is stupid, it's not her culture. Being a farmer doesn't mean someone kills pets or hunting animals just out of annoyance.

That's personal conduct. And her's is criminal and unhinged.

Wirehaired pointers are bred to be very hyper dogs. It was doing what it was supposed to do. Noem didn't know how to handle the dog, so she shot it.

Meanwhile any number of bird hunters that knows how to handle a dog would've taken it.

I've had shorthaired pointers, which a different breed than wirehaired but similar in temperament and energy. They take work, but really not that much.

Farmers must be very different where you come from (though I doubt it ... I bet it's just you).

I owned a small farm. That makes me a farmer. And yes were really sad when we had to sell that farm when my career (remember those?) took me elsewhere. And I did raise and kill animals on my farm. But before that I gave them really good lives on my farm. And when I did kill one I cooked it really well because I respected my animals and appreciated when they gave their lives for me and my family. And they were very tasty. Better than anything you can buy in a store.

But I never ever ever even considered once dragging my animals or pets to a gravel pit and shooting them because they annoyed me.

For the record, Noem wrote that the dog tried to bite her when she went to grab it from killing the chickens.

www.poynter.org

The same article provides legal interpretations suggesting she may and may not have broken the law.

Justin Marceau, a University of Denver law professor and director of the school's Animal Law Program and Animal Activist Legal Defense Project, also doesn't think statute 40-34-1, which the governor's office cited, authorized Noem to kill the dog.

The law "seems to allow for an animal to be killed if the animal is actively chasing' or killing an animal considered livestock," Marceau said, describing Cricket's chicken assault a "past act" at the time the dog was killed.

"The laws of South Dakota also permit, as do most states, the euthanizing of dangerous animals in certain circumstances," Marceau said. "But Gov. Noem has failed to note that determinations about whether to euthanize an animal are, by statute, assigned to peace officers and humane officers, not pet owners who determine that it would take extra work or money to properly train a young puppy."

Conley Wouters, a University of Illinois Chicago assistant law professor who practices animal law, took a different stance. He said he believes 40-34-1 "does seem to permit killing a dog who has injured or killed" another person's livestock or poultry." Because the law was enacted in 1939, it was on the books when Noem killed Cricket, he added.

Lack of empathy should be disqualifying for a presidential candidate.

He evidenced a lack of empathy in other ways as well. Starting with his business model, which was to buy companies, lay off thousands of employees, sell it for parts or move manufacturing overseas to save a nickel.

The dog story only compounded his apparent lack of empathy for the plight of others. Can you imagine what riding on top of a car going 70 mph was like for their dog?

Normal people who possess empathy would never dream of of doing that.
