He seemed to do much better than some of his predecessors in a tough job within an impossible organization. RIP.

#1: Hi Doc, true what you wrote. Francis was the first Jesuit to ever sit in the Chair of St. Peter and the Jesuits oppose Opus Dei. How will Trumpf and papally-snubbed snubbed JD Vance react? Will US flags be flown at half-mast? Too bad Trumpf's birthday is in June. The Sacred College of Cardinals would have selected the new pope before 14 June. This is the novel to read or film to watch, especially because of the Ukraine war and papal selection: i.gr-assets.com

Weird that he died right after a visit from JD Vance.

Bells tolled in church towers across Rome after the announcement, which was read out by Cardinal Kevin Ferrell, the Vatican camerlengo, from the chapel of the Domus Santa Marta, where Francis lived.

"At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the home of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of his Church, Ferrell said.

Francis, who suffered from chronic lung disease and had part of one lung removed as a young man, was admitted to Gemelli hospital on Feb. 14, 2025, for a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia. He spent 38 days there, the longest hospitalization of his 12-year papacy.

"The communists stole some of our Christian values. Some others, they made a disaster out of them."

From the same interview he gave in 2022 that's the source of tne quote at #6. He was a Jesuit and he could be both simplistic and complex. Interesting interview: www.americamagazine.org

I've had many issues with the Catholic Church over the years but this Pope wasn't one of them. Francis was an influential critic of Israel's mass atrocities in Gaza. He repeatedly called for investigations into genocide allegations and routinely denounced the bombing of hospitals and the murder of humanitarian workers and civilians.
He was an advocate for moral clarity and a huge PR problem for Israel, a supremacist regime founded on violence lies and deceit.

One can only hope that another fearless and compassionate human being such as Francis will be announced as the next leader of the Catholic Church.

Let's just hope it isn't Dolan. I'm fairly sure the Europeans won't ever elect and American but he would be an absolute disaster.

WASHINGTON: Arguing that "it's the smartest way to go," Donald J. Trump urged the Vatican on Monday to select the next pope from the cast of "Fox & Friends."

"You want to have a pope who's good on TV," Trump said. "The Fox & Friends' people are the best TV people in the business."

Trump seemed to disqualify co-host Ainsley Earhardt, commenting, "I don't know if you can have a girl pope. No knock on Ainsley, but I don't think people are ready for that."

Alternatively, he added, "Maybe go with Doocy--he looks like he's never had sex."

And now back to the regularly-scheduled pedo-supporting cat-lick church.

It happened to be a Jesuit Priest who interviewed me as was required for a non-Catholic about to marry a Catholic girl. This was in his office at their University at Santa Clara.

He was basically the Irish priest straight out of the old John Wayne movie about the American boxer who moves to Ireland... a cane. a dog, books crowding every shelf.

I was a young suit working there in the Valley, a little coked up, and he pegged me right away.

His first words to me as he leaned forward across his desk were, "The World is trying to do THIS to you"... and he shot me The Finger!

.

Of the top few candidates to become Pope now, one is already a Trump loyalist, and another is persuadable. Which fits the long held AC narrative that the character of the False Prophet who supports the AC is... a Pope

I suspect the church's experiment with a pope who actually follows Christ's teachings will end here.

I won't be surprised one bit when a fire and brimstone righty cardinal from Europe gets the nod.

RIP to a compassionate man who followed the actual teachings of Christ to help the poor and downtrodden per the Beatitudes and Matthew 25:31-47

"As many of us have heard by now, today the Vatican announced the death of Pope Francis at 88 years of age. And as a sign of the times, the Vatican released the news on X.

The legacy of Pope Francis is unquestionably that he pushed the Catholic Church to the left in many ways, which did satisfy many Catholics seeking to modernize the church, but also angered traditionalists."

Once again the Catholic Church will face a dilemma at the upcoming conclave. Keep heading in a direction of compassion and tolerance laid out by Pope Francis or hit the brakes with a conservative' new Pope.

#23: So faux Christian MTG celebrated the Pontiff's passing? Here's how America's non-Christian "enemies" reacted:

"Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have separately offered their condolences following the death of Pope Francis at the age of 88."

A sad fate but totally understandable given that the man was 88 years old and trying to help a world infected with foolishness.

On the brighter side I'm looking forward to Roger trying to determine the upcoming pope.

I was thinking, everyone knew he was sick and it was Easter weekend where the large majority of Catholics go to church so there must have been billions of folks all over the world praying for him, millions of priests giving sermons asking God to heal him. How'd that work out?

If they appoint a conservative expect membership to continue to decline. Francis breated new life into the Catholic Church.

Jesus or Torquemada. Those are the choices.

Passover, which he was celebrating shortly before he was interrupted by a passing Roman Crucifixion instigated by the Jewish leaders, was good enough timing for JC.

And after age 88, I hear that there's not a lot of resistance to leaving the flesh; especially when you believe that, "being absent from the flesh is being present with the Lord", as this Pope who actually advocated for brotherhood, love, peace, and treating other people better than they prolly deserved... and loving others better than yourself, ESPECIALLY immigrants and foreigners and strangers, did. (speaking of run on sentences!)

Not everyone does, nor perhaps should they, believe that.

Couldn't come soon enough for the Catholic church unfortunately. I doubt the next Pope will be the appeaser that Fancis was - they will go back to more traditional values.

Would be those of putting others interests above one's own, as in all the OT and the New. Especially when dealing with immigrants and foreigners.

Actually, zero tolerance for that behavior. To stop it, they need to stop letting homosexuals join the priesthood. Then again, I am a Lutheran and I think the Catholic celibacy nonsense doesn't work. In the non-Christian world, it makes for angry incels. In the Church, it makes for pedophiles.
