Trump posts about a "new" deal with Greenland and Denmark which appears to be just about exactly the same as our current deal with them, but nobody tell him that.

@#1 ... Terrific! ...

I agree this is an excellent agreement.

But did Pres Trump have to push away our allies in order to attain this agreement?

Yes, we now have this agreement regarding Greenland, but the United States has become more isolated as a result of Pres Trump's tactics in attaining this agreement.

The threats he made will take years, maybe even decades, before our [former?] allies regain their former level of trust in us.

All along this timeline, Denmark was willing to talk and negotiate what they just agreed to. Pres Trump did not need to take the hard line with them.

So, yes, Pres Trump's bombastic approach resulted in something good for the US, but was the road he chose to get there the proper road to take?

The result does not always justify the means.

The most celebrated definition [of a state] comes from sociologist Max Weber, who defined it as a "human community that (successfully) lays claim to the monopoly of legitimate physical violence within a particular territory."

Trump is a Russian asset. Little more evidence is needed than what's on the table.

Ignoring (for now) that this agreement still has to be approved by the governments of all three countries, there are two pertinent questions:

1. What PRECISELY is contained in this agreement?

2. What is new/different from the previous agreement that was still in place?

So, Piggy who literally lies about everything announces some "deal" on Untruth Social and people believe him

TFF

1. Piggy Lies about EVERYTHING
2. This is the exact same deal we had with Denmark for literal decades
3. The military did not want any other bases on Greenland. We are able to complete our mission on Greenland as it is.
4. Greenland is incredibly inhospitable. Thus the cost of a new base would be exorbitant, and, again, would serve no purpose

Again, there is zero reason to believe this. Piggy is desperate for good news ahead of the election.

If this "deal" is anything like our "deal" with Venezuela, Denmark should run

If you haven't heard we are

1. Taking revenue from Venezuela's sale of oil, gold and other natural resources and possibly other resources
2. Putting them in undisclosed financial institutions, reporting was the money initially went to Qatari banks
3. There is no audit of the money. We, ie. Congress has no idea where the money is, how much money is there, how much is going back to Venezuela, how much is going to third parties. ie the Piggy family
4. Our Defense Department, contrary to law has entered an agreement with famously corrupt Venezuelan businessman (investigated by multiple countries for money laundering) to develop the "oil industry" in Venezuela. If you don't understand how bad it is for the DoD to have a source of income separate from Congress I don't know what to say
5. The corrupt Venezuelan regime remains in place, remains oppressive and remains illegitimate
6. The people of Venezuela hate this arrangement

Sooooo, when Venezuelan "terrorists" start attacking American interests please take your outrage and shove it.

Oh yeah we continue to murder their citizens with impunity.

What Trump "Says" is Meaningless.

Iran had a binding Agreement with the West that Trump trashed and later killed the Iranian leaders for not "Honoring".

This Agreement is Worthless because Trump's WORD is Worthless even if the Agreement is Binding.

More freaking foreign military bases to add to the already bloated 900+ the US already has.

We should we closing bases.
We should be bringing troops hone.
We should be changing laws that require, by law, troops in foreign nations.
We should end treaties demanding a US presence in other countries.
Put 900+ bases on the borders of the US.
The only legal entry points will be bottle necks.
All other sections of the border will be US military bases. Cross under, through, or over at your peril.

All those things you listed have nothing to do with Greenland.

I have provided a map showing the actual size and relative position of Greenland which is approximately 1.4 times the size of Alaska.

Pay attention to the location of the United States and Russia and China and the Middle East and Greenland.

And then, put yourself in the place of a leader of the United States whose job it is to think about the future.

Then...look again at the map and see any significance of military bases in Greenland that could be positioned to defend North America from attacks from the North.

Your opinion about military bases stationed around the world has nothing to do with this.

Associates and former officials tied to Donald Trump have been accused of running covert influence and commercial operations in Greenland to advance U.S. interests and strategic resource access.

The Covert Influence Accusations The Danish Report: Denmark's national broadcaster (DR) reported that three American men with close ties to Trump were monitored by Danish intelligence for running covert influence operations in Greenland.

Diplomatic Fallout: The Danish government summoned top U.S. diplomats in Copenhagen multiple times to protest the interference and reaffirm Danish sovereignty over the territory

Key Figures Involved
Drew Horn: A former Green Beret and founder of the critical-minerals company GreenMet (Greentech Minerals Holding), Horn has faced scrutiny over business and infrastructure plans in Greenland, though he maintained his efforts are purely commercial

George Sorial & Keith Schiller: The Trump Organization's former longtime vice president and former bodyguard/aide, respectively, who previously had ties to GreenMet and later formed Javelin Advisors before stepping back from active roles in Greenland-linked mining projects

Thomas Dans: An Arctic adviser to Trump who has organized high-profile trips to the region for the president's inner circle.

Business and Mining Interests
Investigative reports by groups like the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project highlighted that several figures in Trump's orbit"alongside prominent billionaire investors"have heavily targeted Greenland's rare earth minerals and critical raw materials needed for tech and defense manufacturing.

That must be the lowest bar for any president... but even then, here he isn't doing anything for America, he is trying to rebrand and put his name on yet another meaningless piece of paper, just like all those "peace agreements" he boasted about before, that were not real or he had nothing to do with, trying to get Nobel Peace Prize.

This "agreement" doesn't give the US anything more we didn't have in the 1951+2004 agreements. This is just a way for Denmark to placate Trump, who will now boast of a "great deal"... just like he eventually will with Canada and Mexico... except MAGA cult will hail it as an "Art of the Deal" "pressure tactics of successful hard-nosed businessman" even when a "deal" is not as good as one offered or could have been achieved before all the hostilities - so he backtracks and tries to sell it as a "win" - that's how he bankrupted nearly all his businesses and had to beg the Russians for lifelines.

How about specific prohibition of non nato countries?

"Specific" prohibition of non-NATO countries on what exactly?

All the garbage about "INFINITE" non-military, commercial and sovereign rights in the agreement is Trump's fantasy and has been rejected. There are Chinese and other countries' companies in Greenland doing business, including mining, and there is nothing in the agreement changing that.

A recently minted North Carolina "rare earth" public company Greenland Mines (NSDQ:GRML - it was "doing biotech" before this pivot, via buyout in March) bought out rights 2 weeks ago for existing Sarfartoq Rare Earths Project, no "US - Greenland" deal was necessary. To give you an idea of viability of the company, its stock is at $2.85 now, was $600 in 2024.

We'll just have to wait and see what this agreement actually ends up including.

Exactly, you're reading Trump's "maximalist" version that he thinks includes all the things he boasts are in the "new" agreement (do you really think he read the draft?), which has already been [ever so subtly] rejected by Danish authorities, whose description of the agreement is vastly different.

How many times some people need to be disappointed by the yuuuuuge gaps between what Trump announces and the reality when the truth comes out?

Eff,

"If the Greenlandic Legislature Refuses to Ratify, What then?"

You'll have to move on to something else, I guess.

War. BJ BOI,WAR.

Trump is a Coward and an Opportunist.

Iran is a Tough Nut. Real Men, a Living Civilization not based on DEBT.

He can't Buy them or Corrupt them.

He Murdered their Leader, even the People who hated him can't Forgive that and Won't.

He was their Cultural Icon. Even if he was seen as Irrelevant or Aloof.

Trump has No Respect for Religion, he is a Wannabe False Prophet. Too Crazy and Self Interested to even fool the Stupids.

If the Greenlandic Legislature refuses to Ratify Trump could do almost anything because NATO won't do Shit and Neither will Congress and You, Bj Boi, will Applaud Any Aggression because you have No Honor or True Religion at All...

Eff,

So Iranian men are "real men", you said.

As opposed to who that aren't?
