Do you want to see these people fed?

I can tell you, after watching MAGA for a decade, that the classical response of that movement is to say let them starve.

It's just that they never expected it to be them.

Never in their wildest, selfish, dreams.

Personally, I get no joy in seeing fellow Americans suffering regardless of their political views.

That said, it's impossible to avoid the obvious:
Most (all?) of these folks were warned about what would likely happen by voting for Mr. Trump. The experience of Mr. Trump's first administration alone should have made those warnings unnecessary (besides his other previous failures/failings). Combine that with what Mr. Trump said what he would do in his 2024 campaign speeches! How much sympathy can one have for folks so willfully ignorant? Do you feel sorry for someone who runs across the highway without looking (after being warned that it is dangerous) and then gets hit by a car? Add to that, many (most?) of these folks were eager(!) for the pain that would be inflicted upon others thinking it would only happen to SOMEONE ELSE! THAT is what is most disturbing (evil?) and it goes far beyond disdain IMHO.

On the other hand, I think we all know that if this country is once again to become whole and move forward there must be some meaningful level of reconciliation after these past ten years of the greatest national polarization sine the Civil War. It cannot come from the top down. It must come from us, We The People, in our attempts to lay the disdain aside. Tall order but I think that becomes our duty if we truly are patriotic Americans.

It's like the story of the scorpion and the frog.

The frog carried the scorpion half way across the river before the scorpion stung him.

Because that's the scorpion's nature. The frog dies and the scorpion is left drowning.

Then you show up crying about how heartless everyone is for not caring about the scorpion.

Completely ignoring the fact the scorpion is in that situation because of its own actions.

Americans were warned not to vote for Trump, they voted for him anyways, now America is dying.

Sad fact is, they'd all vote for Trump again if they were given the opportunity. Because that's their nature.

The frog was America. Conservatives killed America. We're all drowning. You're being a sanctimonious idiot.

They are responsible. If THEY want reconciliation they need to change

You seem to be under the impression that there is a solution to this problem.

There isn't

There are 2 types of people in this country-the sane and the insane

The insane cannot become sane and the sane cannot become insane

Half the population is morally bankrupt. They do not have nor understand the most basic concept of ethics or morality.

Either they are stupid or evil, but there is no changing that, there is no reconciliation

They believe you are less human than them. They believe they have a god given right to rule over you.

That cannot be changed

And certainly not while the conservative regressive revolution is underway.

They have destroyed the connective tissue that held our country together. They are the ones perverting the mystic chords of memory Lincoln talked about

Teach them morals first, then we can talk

No compassion for women dragged down into poverty by a child they couldn't abort.
It's the woman's fault. Because of the choices she made.

And the child must suffer for the bad choices made by the mother.
Helping the child robs the her of the chance to learn how getting pregnant can ruin your life, and your child's life.

That's how Republican "compassion" works.
By harming people.
By letting people be harmed, and doing nothing to help.

I agree with eb here. Their voting tendencies are just a symptom of even larger deficiencies:

- fear of any change, along with everyone and everything different, so they get left in the past while the World moves on.
- young people with any real ambition move out, leaving the undesirable tweaker or alcoholic types with too many kids and no job skills.
- lack of job skills and fear of change prohibit economic development
- professionals like doctors and educators don't want to live in a shit hole for shit pay, so the people are unhealthy and stupid.
- blaming others who are not like them for their situation and problems.

Being MAGA is a whole lifestyle that existed long before Trump. I grew up in a rural "MAGA" area and I know this very well.

I remind people Biden intentionally gave the majority of investment and funding (IRA, CHIPS act, Infrastructure) to red areas of this country.

They voted Piggy into power who dismantled and reversed those investments.

President Joe Biden's policies toward red states (Republican-led or Republican-voting states) have involved a paradox: while his major legislative packages passed largely without Republican votes, the resulting federal investments have disproportionately flowed into red states and rural or exurban Republican districts. At the same time, the administration frequently clashed with red-state governors on cultural, health, and regulatory issues.

Major Legislative Investments in Red States

Despite stiff opposition from GOP lawmakers, flagship legislative achievements of the Biden administration directed massive funding and private-sector capital into red states:
Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and CHIPS and Science Act: According to analysis by Brookings Metro, roughly 73% of announced private strategic sector investments (clean tech, semiconductors, and biomanufacturing) landed in counties that voted for Donald Trump, driven by lower land costs, availability, and business-friendly environments.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law: Pumped hundreds of billions into infrastructure projects nationwide, with Axios reporting that over half a trillion dollars in jobs and infrastructure campaigns reached Republican and swing states, even as local GOP representatives who voted against the bills regularly attended groundbreakings.

Piggy has undone a good amount of that

-Why should I have any compassion for these people when compassion lead us to this point?

I have no idea where you think compassion lead us to the reality of this (or any other) rural WV town ravaged by poverty and all the characteristics that accompany such reality. lack of education, out of wedlock births, low wages, unemployment, crime, drug addiction, etc.....all the same things that you also find in similar communities.

compassion is what you show people after they make poor life choices and there is really no alternative except to help them.

To me, there is no difference between this community and the inner city ghetto with similar problems (generational poverty) and a clear voting pattern.

but it's different to you dumfuqs.

how they vote seems to make all the difference.

Compassion has nothing to do with votes. The starting point of compassion isn't first getting something you think you're owed by these people

You think you're owed something in exchange for your compassion.

Just admit it, twoothy......you have no clue what the concept means.

"I hate magat scum
I hate them because of what I witnessed with my own eyes on January 6, 2021
They tried to overthrow my country"

These methheads from WV didn't deploy the resources to do that.

But since they didn't vote the way you wanted......they, and their children, can go starve to death.

And yet all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the cruelty of the GOP and their policies from you morons.........

And you're meaner than Trump or anybody else.....thank goodness you and Boazboy live in a country where you're free to be as hateful, spiteful, and heartless as you want.

"They chose the Great American FAFO. And now they are Finding Out." posted by Boazboy

I realize time starts over when a republican wins an election and you're unaware of anything that happened prior to that election.......but here is a little history for you..........poor people have been "finding out" for centuries.....especially the last century.

Do you 2 fucksticks realize how unbelievably stupid and worthless you portray yourselves to be on this site?

In some rural counties in red states............they poured poverty onto themselves. their choices. so fuck them.

but everywhere else? poverty was dispensed to them. And they deserve our compassion, help, and resources.....and we'll demonize anyone who dare question those resources.

clowns.........

"We are not talking a system designed to impoverish them, a system designed to keep them down. We are not talking about people who have lived for generations under laws designed to keep them poor and uneducated."

Poor white people do live in those systems. Exhibit A: The topic of this thread.
Just not as much as poor minorities.
They also haven't lived there for as long as minorities.
It's more attributable to "late stage Capitalism" what's happening to poor whites for the past fifty years.
An Oligarch Class is emerging that no longer needs the majority of white voters to retain their hold on power.

-Piggy has single handedly destroyed my faith in humanity

No.....that is 100% false.

He simply revealed that lack of faith

You never had it in first place.

At least now you know.....and you've admitted it.

Eberly would never cluck at somebody like this if they supported USAID cuts.
Cuts which have actually killed a half million children.

That's cute
So does nobody deserve compassion, or everybody?
Surely the person whose party killed 500,000 children in Africa will have the right answer!

Talk about yer hyperbole.

Suffering from food insecurity for your vote is not the same as "starving to death".

How many have starved to death?

And why would Dear Leader allow such a thing to happen in the greatest country on earth?

They have a different view of that in NYC.
But you're not capable of changing your mind about anything.
That's why your ideas only take one sentence and then they're done.
