Former Vice President Dick Cheney will cast his ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris, his daughter, former Rep. Liz Cheney, said during an interview on Friday. Both Cheneys are Republicans, and the elder served under President George W. Bush.

Dick is a subhuman mastermind behind the Middle East wars... Looks like his vote is going to the right person

Liz? Liz lost her seat in Wy because of her negative attitude towards Trump... Good riddance.

- lost her seat in Wy because of her negative attitude towards Trump.

As if that's a bad thing, rofl!

Trump is a convicted criminal... and a traitor according to literally dozens of his own hand-picked Aides and Lawyers, under Oath.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend in the coming close election. And there's a lot of actual patriots out there.

Liz and Dick and Project Lincoln and Republicans for Harris are welcome to vote for Harris.. or rather against Trump, as the case may be.

Even Trumpers who KNOW they drank the Orange Kool-aid and now understand from his actions rather than his words that Trump never gave two thoughts about the middle class and working people, but is a NY Carpetbagger than fooled your lazy-minded asses.

Dick Cheney? Really?

In other news, hell has frozen over.

This just goes to show you just how dangerous a choice to the future of democracy in our country Trump is.

I don't have to like Dick Cheney to agree with him on this decision.

" Liz lost her seat in Wy because of her negative attitude towards Trump"

Yeah.

Telling the truth is so frowned upon in the Republican Party these days.

Did you see Charlie Kirk's rant about Trump admitting he lost the 2020 Election? VERY PISSED.

Not that Trump had lied, mind you; but that Trump hadn't stuck with the lie.

And here we see it's infested the entire party!

Yes.

As I have said previously, I disagree with fmr Rep Cheney on political issues. Strongly disagree.

But I also even more strongly support her placing the Constitution over politics when it comes to fmr Pres Trump.

At this point, I would also same the same about my support for fmr VP Cheney's decision to vote for VP Harris.

Liz Cheney was not surprising, but this is actual news. How often does a former President vote for a candidate in an opposing party, that we know of?

#14 | Posted by sentinel at 2024-09-06 05:58 PM

This is the Cheney I was hoping for when I saw the earlier headline. The news would have been if Liz Cheney wasn't voting Harris.

#15 | Posted by Dbt2 at 2024-09-06 06:15 PM

Heck, given Trump's apparent laissez-faire, conflict-of-interest riddled foreign policy, I wouldn't be surprised if the-------- (Cheney) himself isn't at least a secret Kamala supporter.

Dick Cheney: "In our nation's 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again.

"As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris."

Look for the MAGAts to give an encore performance, except this time regarding Trump, in four years or less.

We need to keep this in mind, while the opinion of Dick Cheney, or for that matter, Liz Cheney, by Democrats is totally irrelevant, it's what they represent to Republicans which matters most in this situation.

OCU

#28 | Posted by OCUser at 2024-09-06 07:11 PM

Yep, there's simply no way to spin this. In traditional Republican circles, Dick Cheney is their John Wayne. And now, John Wayne is telling you that Donald Trump is a bad guy, and that he's voting for the Democrat.

Can't call Dick Cheney a RINO. Can't say that he doesn't know what he's talking about when he was the Vice President in charge on 9/11. Can't say that he's not a real American, like they do with every other Republican who finds him equally abhorrent. Can't call him a commie, and you can't criticize his foreign policy inside GOP circles.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with, or have we finally reached the point that a flood of traditional Republicans will finally acknowledge that which they should have recognized no later than January 6th 2021?

That is, how could the Republican hero, fmr VP Cheney, possibly support VP Harris over fmr Pres Trump?

And in trying to resolve that internal conflict, your current alias seems to want to project the issue to "Lumpers."

I've explained why I support fmr VP Cheney's opinion on this matter.

Maybe, instead of railing against "Lumpers," your current alias should explain why it does not support fmr VP Cheney's decision of Constitution over Party.

@#39 ... When Trump rtradhed Liz it all became very personal for dick. Politics no longer haas anything to do with it for him. ...

My guess: rtradhed -> trashed

With that in mind...

I'm not yet convinced that politics no longer has anything to do with it.

My guess may be that fmr VP Cheney looked at the reasons why fmr Pres Trump trashed fmr Rep Cheney.

And he decided to vote for VP Harris, instead of what Pres Putin seems to be recommending, staying home and not voting.

#42 | Posted by LampLighter at 2024-09-06 07:53 PM

it all became very personal for dick

Without a doubt, but I hope everyone understands the chief reason Dick is speaking out in 2024 when he didn't in 2020:

January 6, 2021

And THIS is the issue which will hopefully bring more sane, rational, patriotic Republicans over to Kamala Harris' side.

I watched Liz' extended remarks today. And yes, she has the same general loathing of him that most Democrats do, but she articulates how utterly heinous it was for him to launch and germinate January 6th.

This is the Cheney's alpha and omega as it regards Trump. The cascade of Republican/former Republican endorsements for whatever reasons can all coalesce around January 6th without signing onto a single Democratic policy, but for a shared love of country, Constitution, and protecting our historic place and role on the World stage - and NOT become a tool of Putin's Russia in any way, shape or form.

#80 | Posted by Corky at 2024-09-06 11:50 PM

Dick Cheney was a charter signatory to the notorious neocon think tank "Project for the New American Century", and as vp he played a leading role in Chimpy's administration's soaring warmongering, militarism and authoritarianism, including most famously the invasion of Iraq. He has the blood of millions of people on his hands, and he should be living out the rest of his miserable life in a cage.

His daughter Liz is an equally bloodthirsty warmonger who has spent her career pushing for mass military slaughter at every opportunity.

The Cheneys join a growing list of Republican warmongers who are migrating to the Democratic Party platform in droves to support Harris. Last month hundreds of staffers who served under Republicans George W Bush, John McCain and Mitt Romney signed a letter endorsing Harris.

Really, it's not that Dick and Liz Cheney is endorsing the Democrats' vision for America, it's the Democrats who are endorsing the Cheneys' vision.

So now we're seeing two warmongering oligarchic parties shoving the Overton window of acceptable opinion as far in the direction of imperialism, militarism and tyranny as possible under the leadership of some of the very worst people alive.

The Democrats have completely failed America.

it's the Democrats who are endorsing the Cheneys' vision

You don't know how this thing works. No Democrat anywhere is endorsing anything that Dick Cheney ever did. I can tell you have no understanding of the uniting against a common enemy. That common enemy is the only thing the parties agree on - and in this situation, they agree that standing up for America means standing against its greatest threat and subversive enemy.

After Trump is vanquished, as hopefully he will be, both sides will return to their normal grievances with each other, safe in the knowledge that their temporary partnership was the only thing insuring that they could again cross metaphorical swords.

#83 | Posted by tonyroma at 2024-09-07 12:01 AM

- Really, it's not that Dick and Liz Cheney is endorsing the Democrats' vision for America, it's the Democrats who are endorsing the Cheneys' vision.

I see what you did there. Clever, but not equal; Dem domestic policies for America are better than Republican policies for America ... even if your stretch that their Military strategies are the same were true.

Republicans have completely failed America by standing by Trump and the Corporations, while the Dems have only failed to be successful in selling their message to a middle-class of low info swing voters who are too busy paying their mortgage, healthcare, kid care, and more percent of their taxes than do Trump and his Billionaire Buddys like fElon... to know what to do at the Ballot Box than the best that they can.

All this inside political baseball isn't relative to them... they will vote on the vibes they are getting from what they see happening the weeks before the vote.

And like I said in #3... well, you ck if you want.

Which Chaney?

Lon, Sr. or Lon, Jr.?

#87 | Posted by anton at 2024-09-07 03:10 AM

Amen!!

If there is a traditional Republican conservative who understands how government works, it's Dick Cheney. This is a sure sign that some long time traditional Republicans see Trump as a true danger. Rather than waste their vote in a write-in name or 3rd party candidate, they are voting for Trump's leading opponent.

What makes Dick Cheney and Adam Kinzinger so dramatic is their public announcement of their distrust if the new Republican cult's candidate. It may cause a schism in the GOP between Constitutionalists and Trumpets. If Democrats win and want to prevent a Trumpet from winning in 2028, they will have to ensure that defecting GOP Constitutionalists have good reason to keep the faith with the Democrats.

What this shows is how the GOP has abandoned everything from their past.

No one from the immediate past is even involved in their convention. That tells you a lot.

It also tells you how current politicians will look no further than money and power to win, regardless of who is on their side.

I give you Trump.

#93 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-09-07 11:44 AM

And the crazy thing about Cheney's daughter is:

1. She was the third most powerful Republican while in the House
2. She voted with Trump like 98% of the time
3. She was one of his chief fund raising sources.

So she was ALL TRUMP.

Until Jan 6. The Dems would disagree with her on policy about 95% of the time - but on this issue (Trump/democracy) then can agree and will team together.

Same goes with the father and all his faults.

"President George W. Bush's home down payment assistance program for less qualified individuals is widely blamed for fueling the housing bubble " by increasing housing prices and decreasing loan recipient quality " that led to the 2007-2008 global financial crisis."

Utter horse s**t. The ridiculous invention of the variable rate interest mortgage created the collapse of the housing market back in 2007-08. I memember reading an economists prediction where he said the collapse of the housing bubble was entirely predictable just using an omline mortgage payment calculator figuring in the date of the scheduled interest rate bump and the stagnant incomes of mosr Americans and his prediction was exactly dead on; that is eACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. As it turned out that was veery fortunaye forme because I was shoppimg for a condo at that time and after I found what I wanted I was offered a variable interest rate motygage that I turbed down against the advice of those who thought they were so much smarter than me. 20 years later (almost) and I think those "smarter" folks are still renting while I am still living in the condo I bought back then and I just wish I could remember who wrote that article.

Cheney is the Kiss Of Death.

---- that -------.. If they accept this endorsement it's like accepting Putin's endorsement.. as a Positive Thing.

The DNC are shameless Whores. They have NO CORE PRINCIPLES AT ALL ABOUT ANYTHING. Except getting enough cash and support together to win no matter the cost in credibility or Moral integrity. How many times have we heard that Trump,or some other Republican, is the end of America if they win,so any compromise on policy is worth it to prevent the catastrophe of a Republican victory. Then they win anyway and the Dems do everything they want without even trying to impede the so called "disaster agenda"? Hillary,Joe,John Kerry, they ALL VOTED TO INVADE IRAQ. they loved Darth Cheney then and still love him now.

Putin has more Integrity. He knows the West can't be Trusted.

Lol.

Pooty Pants is a liar so naturally YOU believe him.

White supremacists and Christian Nationalists only exist in Democrat fever dreams.

Your ignorance of the subject only proves your ignorance.

In spite of your denial violence as a result of far-right groups, particularly white supremacists, is on the rise.

Trump isn't looking for WW3 In Europe.

On Russia policy I'm more with Trump than Cheney. And not Too Dumb to know it.

Cheney just gives clarity about where this is really aligned, on War Issues the two parties are virtually identical.

Cheney wouldn't endorse Kamala if she significantly differed from him on War Issues.

They are in lockstep on that and it has nothing to do with the Dotard.

This is about Russia policy. About Israel policy and death for Palestinians. About Iran and China, not domestic issues.

Sorry, not buying the pablum about "Democracy" this is about Empire and War.

Cheney thinks Trump is not sufficiently warlike and Kamala is.

It's that Simple.

Trump is looking better the more the campaign unfolds.
