Thing is, Dems seem to mostly be relieved to find about bad people before they elect them... not elect them because they are poor excuses for a human being.

Most Republicans obviously prefer their political leaders to be convicted felons like the one who grifts out of the WH, tried to illegally overturn an Election, and is STILL refusing to Obey the Law and Release the Epstein Files.

Democrat Elites are kicking him off the ballot, he's been aligned with DSA, and now the claws are coming out.

Its been mentioned by one of you Lumpers, that its been almost 18yrs since the Democrats have had a real primary.

At least that's how Corky defends his attacks of such new items.

Cried literally an entire river over Trump's sexual crimes but wants everyone to STFU about this.

The oligarchs and AIPAC are spending a fortune to beat Graham Platner in Maine.

So, with all their pelf to hire PIs to scour Maine, the Republicans finally found someone willing to testify or perjure herself against the Democratic candidate: Where was this comely lass for the past five years?

Susan Collin's (R-Israel) good-for-nothing husband is a wealthy lobbyist:

"Susan Collins's husband's lobbying firm received over $50 million in federal contracts, with tens of millions of dollars from agencies Susan Collins oversees.

It's got to be one of the great coincidences of American history."

See below ...

It's as if because of Trump, this behavior should be ignored by a candidate for US Senate.

This has nothing to do with his behavior; this has everything to do with one week to make a switch, and Graham is a DSA supporter.

This is an internal Elite Democrat struggle, I see three factions, WestCoast (Newsom), EastCoast(Shaprio types) and DSA ...

It's going to be crazy making.

If you ignore the Epstein survivors.

If you ignore Pam Bondi saying he's in the Epstein files.

If you ignore Trump saying he can't help himself around women and he's drawn to sexually assaulting them.

If you ignore teenagers in beauty pageants saying he walked in on them while they were naked.

If you ignore the letter he wrote Epstein, the pictures of him surrounded by underage girls.

There's still the guilty charge of sexual assault against E. Jean Carroll.

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Platner faces calls to withdraw after sexual assault allegation
abcnews.com

... Maine Democratic Party officials released a statement calling on Platner to withdraw as the party's nominee for Senate.

"Over the past several weeks, multiple women have made serious, credible allegations against Graham Platner. Today's statements take those allegations even further," party Chair Charlie Dingman, Vice Chair Imke Schessler and Exective Director Devon Murphy-Anderson said in a joint statement. "The Maine Democratic Party leadership stands with women and survivors, and that principle does not bend based on party affiliation. We respect the women who made the hard decision to come forward. Speaking up is often costly."

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, who chairs the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, called on Platner to withdraw and said the committee would not invest in the race if Platner doesn't. ...

They will find all the dumb stuff he has said on the internet and he's going to spend much of his campaign apologizing and blaming it on PTSD. I won't be surprised to see allegations of domestic abuse and sexual assault surface. GOP voters have shown they are willing to overlook horrible behavior, criminal even, but we are going to end up learning things about Platner that is going to result in a lot of democrats turning their backs on him.

I had heard about the conversations with her therapist, but is that evidence or hearsay? I'm not a lawyer, so I do not know how that would stand up in Court.

Who wrote the texts and social media posts? Mr Platner or someone else? Again, hearsay or evidence? Would they hold up in Court.

OK, all that aside, for a person running for office, the court of public opinion is the operative judge. And it looks pretty bad for Mr Platner.

If he drops out, that would, imo, be the right thing for him to do.

Platner is, as the kids say, cooked. He should drop out immediately so the party can officially start the business of selecting a replacement. My recommendation, Troy Jackson. He doesn't have the charisma of Platner but he's a known quantity in Maine politics having served in multiple terms in both the state house and senate. His politics are similar to Platner's so much so that they endorsed each other when Jackson was running for the Democratic primary nomination for governor in the recent election. He lost that one but it was a strange election with Jackson being one of 4 candidates to receive at least 20% of the first place votes in what was a ranked choice election.

#50. The problem is will more shoes drop about this guy? NYT knew this woman's story and promised Fifield they would publish the stories of other victims alongside her own. Then they hung her out to dry (I believe it was deliberate) and ran only with her story. They contacted 2 of her friends who were only able to cooborate that Fifield and Platner had dated. But she also provided 3 other friends who could corroborate the more sordid stuff and didn't bother contacting them. It was classic NYT acting as Dem media operatives. Fifield was going public no matter what, so NYT swept in and managed the process so as to minimize damage to Platner. And why not, Fifield is a Republican. She's an easy victim to attack as not being credible for that reason. This latest victim to come forward just had two relive him forcing himself on her. I believe she too was coming forward no matter what so Politico leapt on it with enough time for the DNC to pull another Biden/Harris swap. Dems end up look8ng really bad here but I think they have other threats behind the scenes that could possibly ruin this guy financially.

Platner's unraveling may keep the Senate in play for Democrats
thehill.com

... It looks like Graham Platner won't be putting oyster stew on the Senate Dining Room menu any time soon.

In the wake of the most serious allegations yet against the scandal-soaked Democratic Senate nominee -- this time that he raped an erstwhile girlfriend in 2021 -- the months-long drumbeat from party leaders to get him out of the race may yet succeed.

Platner vehemently denies the charge but given that his most recent scandals prior to the rape claim involved acknowledged misconduct in his marriage and prior relationships, he may have finally run out of goodwill among his supporters. When he posted his video dismissing the allegation, Platner was already speaking in the past tense about his candidacy and said that he would be evaluating the "best path forward."

That's candidate-ese for "I have to talk to my donors and prominent endorsers and see if they're dropping me."

Maine law gives him until July 13 to withdraw in favor of state Democrats' designated replacement. The first batch of post-primary polls in Platner's race against incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) already showed him weighed down by his baggage, so if he did try to hang on, Platner would find that many of his onetime boosters -- folks who had developed an ethical relativism worthy of a Trump flak -- probably wouldn't be up for any more shucking on his behalf. ...

The smart play for Democrats, and probably Platner himself, is to try a do-over. Democratic Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who began her candidacy reluctantly, now seems like she's champing at the bit. If Platner goes quietly, Democrats could quickly get Collins and the GOP back on the defensive and keep the chance of retaking the Senate alive.

The math isn't great for Democrats. They have to win eight of 11 competitive Senate races this year to take back the Senate for the first time since 2014. ...

There's still the guilty charge of sexual assault against E. Jean Carroll.
Which you will also ignore.

Image Republicans holding one of their own to this standard!

Hell, they would have him in the Cabinet or Senate just for the tats and the woman abuse.

He's not quite vile enough to be the Leader of that Party, but he can always just change Parties now and become the next President!

If I was Platner I would refuse to Quit.

Allegations are not Convictions. Trump has CONVICTIONS, 34 Felonies.

He owes 5 million Dollars to a woman he digitally raped, it's a Conviction, not an Allegation.

Democrats are Stupid. He won the Primary, now they want him to quit so they can just Appoint a replacement based on their own standards at the DNC, not the Voters Choice.

I can't Think of Anything LESS Democratic.

This is Sandbagging and like what they did to Al Franken who was an excellent Progressive Senator, but isn't that the Point?

Franken was Too Progressive for his own good with the DNC.

Anointing Candidates is bad policy. Look at what happened with both Hillary and Kamala.

Trump a Serial Rapist,...Beat them Both.

Politics is a blood sport and the Democrats just don't have the Drive to Win.

I just don't see how Trump supporters can have the nerve to go after Platner. Trump is a convicted serial sex offender with over thirty felony convictions. They have zero credibility when they now another supposed sex offender.

Republicans Win Elections.

Because they have a Narrow Constituency?

Because they are a Cult of Personality?

Because they Don't Rufuse to honor Primary Elections?

The Democrats are Less Democratic at the Primary Level.

The Party Knows ALL.

I don't even like Platner over his Military Record, but the Democrats in Maine Voted for Mr. Platner in a Free And Fair Election.

The DNC doesn't like him for some Reason.

He did the Work, He Earned the Votes.

I think they should back the Candidate the Electorate Chose.

Not some person selected by Committee.

I don't live in Maine so my opinion isn't of any importance.

I do think the DNC needs to respect the Primary process more than they do.

Whats your take on Kavanaugh? Trump (didn't even know the year)?

But you're missing the real story, because you need to read between the lines.

NYT, and Politico interviewed these women last year sometime.

They have been sitting on this information since Nov/Oct. The reason it comes out today is that Platner is a socialist, part of the DSA wing. the Democrats have one week before they need to finalize the ballot entry. Thats why this is happening.

There's a war being waged in the DNC; The Westies (Pelosi,Newsom), The Easties (Shapiro, schumer, warren etal), and the DSA (mamdani etc)......

Its go time!

~ ShouldntSpeak

Funny how you don't understand what is happening, and think it has anything to do with anyones behavior.

Rather, it's the hard left that is taking advantage of the Democratic Party's current weakened state to advance all-out factional warfare as their top priority, above fighting Trump. Every dollar spent and every volunteer hour consumed in the battle to replace Adriano Espaillat with Darializa Avila Chevalier is money and time not spent trying to defeat Republicans in G.O.P.-held seats in the suburbs.

Left-factionalists have made a clear choice: Winning primaries in safe blue states is an incredibly high priority for them, worthy of diverting resources away from defending frontline seats or trying to beat G.O.P. incumbents.

Who cares? This is politics, not church. ShouldntSpeaks thinks some moral outrage he can't even prove is going to change the way MAGA thinks?

Or MAGA thinks it going to change how ShouldntSpeaks thinks?

You can't be that naive to think attempting a moral guilt trip (which you can't prove) is going to make people change their minds.

The only reason this is happening is because certain people in the DNC think its apropos.

Let me tell you what's totally crazy about that.

Speakstupid knows it's impossible for anyone, much less a right leaning person, to move him a single inch on any issue. His mind couldn't be changed over any kind of "moral guilt trip" no matter how wrong he might be.

And yet he peddles his own version of a moral guilt trip thread to thread day after day as though it would have a 1 in a million chance of working on a single MAGA or anyone else here.

Yes we know moral arguments don't work against maga because they don't have any.

I stopped trying to reason with magats the day trump got elected. Now I just mock them and make them turn themselves into logical pretzels before they run away.

And you're talking to someone who started off as a republican. So tell me more about how I don't move on any issue.

You preach like you know everything about everyone, you get proven wrong, then you do your tapdancing to change the subject, then you start calling your opponent feminine or gay, and make the entire thread about you. over and over. yawn.

You don't know the moral argument to work.

You haven't stopped trying to reason with them.

Yes, you mock...agreed there.

I didn't say you don't move...I said those folks can't move you. It's possible you might move but my point is that you won't move an inch over an attempted moral guilty trip.

And I do know all I need to know about simpletons like yourself. Not everyone and certainly not everything about everyone.

Weekend at Mitchies. They'll flop his arms for him if need be ...

Platner is big news. His accuser had plenty of time to come forward before now, but charges like that - especially when running against a female - do electoral damage.

I hope Mainers choose someone who can boot Collins - whose platitudes and "concerned/disturbed" statements never lead to action on her so-called principles - the hell out of DC. She's no conservative or moderate. She's a political opportunist who does literally nothing but hold a Senate seat.
