Rob Reiner, the son of a pioneering television comedian who became a popular sitcom actor himself before directing a slate of beloved films, including "This Is Spinal Tap," "When Harry Met Sally ... " and "The Princess Bride," died on Sunday. He was 78.[image or embed]

Rob Reiner on Charlie Kirk's murder:

"I unfortunately saw the video of it and it's beyond belief what happened to him and that should never happen to anybody. I don't care what your political beliefs are. That's not acceptable,"

Reiner added he was touched by Erika Kirk's message of forgiveness at the Turning Point USA founder's memorial service.

"What his wife said at ... the memorial they had was exactly right. And totally I believe " you know I'm Jewish " but I believe in the teachings of Jesus and I believe ... in forgiveness," Reiner said.

I always worried about Meathead.

He was always so outspoken in times where that can be counterproductive and even dangerous. But he made it work. And he got his message out.

He inspired me to be more outspoken and rely on my own judgement about things and not accept things just because that's the way it's always been.

Rob Reiner was a great man, not only an accomplished actor and director of many beloved movies, but a strong progressive voice. He was a compassionate man, he spoke kindly of Erika Kirk when she chose to forgive the murderer of her husband, Charlie, and he spent much of his wealth and late years supporting children's health.

Charlie Kirk was murdered because the murderer hated Charlie Kirk. He was killed for whatever reason the murderer had for murdering Kirk.

Meanwhile, Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman (and her husband and their dog) were all shot and murdered in cold blood - all of this in front of their daughter. The killer shot and wounded another lawmaker before he was ultimately caught. The murderer had a list of additional lawmakers he was targeting for murder. Their sin? THEY WERE ALL DEMOCRATS.

But, there were no calls or orders that flags should be flown at half-staff. There was no post on Delusion Social denouncing the killings. Not even a call to the Governor of Minnesota to express sympathy and solidarity against political violence. Nope. None.

In the case of Charlie Kirk, he was killed for whatever reason the murderer had for murdering Kirk.

In the case of the Hortmans, they were killed because they exercised their First Amendment right to choose to be a Democrat.
