Trump Closer to 270

The Associated Press called North Carolina for Donald Trump just after 11 p.m. ET, cementing the former president's first swing state win in the 2024 race. Most Election Day polling sites across the United States have closed and results and data are starting to come in. The presidential races in Pennsylvania and Georgia, key swing states for both candidates, are too close to call.

Harris up 1-4 points in IN over what Biden did in red areas. This is great news for WI, MI and PA as similar demographics.

------- would need to improve with those demographics to win those states, he is losing.

Georgia not looking good. HUGE swing of independents to ------- from Biden in 2020

This is my America:

Both of the final living survivors of the Tulsa Race Massacre have voted in what may be their last presidential election. Viola Ford Fletcher is 110 and Lessie Benningfield Randle will be 110 on Sunday. We're told they both voted for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Republican rural votes come in a lot faster than Dem big city votes.

Which is why last time Trump claimed victory before the Blue Shift caught up and passed the Red Mirage.

And is what he will do this time, too, as Trumpers never did catch on that this is a phenomena of national elections.

Atlanta, Savannah and Augusta are beginning to report.

#35 | Posted by lfthndthrds at 2024-11-05 08:06 PM

Looking at FL:

Trump up by 12.4% with 87% reporting, this compares to Trump +4% in 2020.

Further, Kamala's total vote count in FL will not match Biden, probably down ~6% from 2020.

Also, Missouri called early, which would point to no big effect from Iowa poll. Either that poll was just plain out wrong or it was relevant for IA only.

FL abortion amendment (4) is getting less votes than Kamala overall and will fail.

Don't know where you saw that, but Amendment 4 has 57% Yes. If Harris was getting that she'd win the state.

The issue with the amendments is that they have to get 60% to pass and DeSantis illegally spent $50 million of taxpayer money to campaign against them, trying to keep them under that requirement.

#44 | Posted by rcade at 2024-11-05 08:47 PM

Florida Amendment 3. Legalizes recreational marijuana.

This proposed amendment to Florida's constitution would legalize the recreational use of marijuana for people age 21 and older.

90% reporting Vote % Vote count
No 44.3% 4,522,885
Yes 55.7% 5,686,685

DeSantis et al made this a 60 percent requirement to win rather than the usual 50+ points.

Then he started lying is speeches that the Amendment would allow smoking in public, which isn't true; localities can regulate that.

Wasn't just the courts. The State (governor/AG) - despite the absolute majority voting for it - refused to fight the case in the USSC and thereby directly ignoring the will of the people. The whole idea around propositions to to bypass the legislature that ignores what they want so it is decided by direct vote. However, the Dems still found a way to ignore their will by refusing to fight it in court.

In 2016, I followed them almost exclusively as their by county forecasting was the most accurate.

Polymarket 77%:23% Trump

I was wrong in 2016; thinking that America would never elect a black guy with a Muslim name over a white woman.

I was pleasantly surprised, btw.

Now to expect that a much more radicalized racist authoritarian rwing populist Cult backed by a fanatic religious faction will elect a black woman over a vile, evil, lying, character-free criminal traitor?

I must be crazy!

Dems: "But she has good policies! You just haven't read them!"

So what?

Just remember who called it. I said this was going to be the issue that could sink her. I said it repeatedly.

I got called out repeatedly for just being "ignorant" of her policies.

No coherent message that she got out to the mid and low information voters on these issues. Ever.

POLICIES ARE NOT A ------- MESSAGE AND PREACHING THEM TO THE CHOIR AT YOUR OWN GOD DAMN RALLIES DOESN'T CONVINCE ANYONE OUTSIDE YOUR BUBBLE.

No. It's not.

This shouldn't have been a close election.

But she is about to lose Pennsylvannia and potentially Wisconsin and/or Michigan.

I hate to say I told you so but I told you so for months now. Dems can't message. Suburban White Women for Pro-Choice wasn't the only message we should have heard but that's Dems for you.

It ain't over until black lady sings.

Trump was expected to be ahead early, she was expected to catch up just as Biden did.

Trump may well win with good rural turnout, but it's not over until the turnout in Dem cities is less than expected.

Regardless of how VA turns out (if Trump wins, he wins the election), but Trump is +10% in that state vs. 2020. That is not good news for the Dems in a state that should be their core group - we literally have Elon saying he will fire like 50% of of the workers there that overwhelmingly work for the government.

Nope. They don't. That's not a message to stupid people.

Harris had virtually no messaging on taxes, jobs, inflation, or immigration.

Policies? Yes. Messaging? No.

Ironically she moved right on everything, tried to stay above the fray, and lost. If she won, we'd be hearing she won by breaking with the Woke crowd and by being a uniter rather than a divider. Instead that's why she lost according to the data.

She needed progressive messaging that spoke directly to what people are worried about. And she didn't do that.

Harris had virtually no messaging on taxes, jobs, inflation, or immigration.

She messaged more on the economy, jobs and taxes than Trump did the final three months -- and her support for the bipartisan immigration bill Trump torpedoed was a strong message.

If she loses it is because America wants more of Trump demonizing "enemies," talking a big game, creating lots of mean-spirited distractions and accomplishing nothing he says he is going to accomplish.

If you thought that was a strong message, you need to get out of the echo chamber. Maybe it played well with low information voters (the Democrat base) but everyone who understands the issue is happy that it was killed. What Kamala, and Joe, could never explain is that they CAUSED the problem through EO and 'fixed' it via EO without needing any GOP support. They could have fixed from day 1 but waited 3.5 years because it was not a problem for them until deep blue city mayors started crying.

#197 | Posted by deadman at 2024-11-05 11:28 PM

She needed progressive messaging that spoke directly to what people are worried about. And she didn't do that.

What progressive position was she going to bring on any of those?

She needed to message on those period.

Inflation is back to normal. Jobs are what I would expect for where we are economically and aren't a negative.

Taxes...what would be the message? They would increase? Stay the same?

Immigration was always going to be an anchor around her neck. They thought avoiding it would make it go away. They were wrong.

Trump didn't fix immigration the first time and he won't fix it the second. Too many Republican employers need the workforce. Trump himself hired undocumented immigrants all the time. He is manipulating stupid people who won't bother to look at what he actually does.

Seems GOP will have House, Senate, President, and USSC if this continues. Hard to see it not being implemented unless the GOP was never serious about it to begin with - and that would lead to a backlash like we have never seen before.

Gonna be the first point of pain.

First, is when citizen get caught up in those drag nets and "constitutional conservative patriots" begin rationalizing the violation of their rights..that's a major step down a dark road.

Second will be when prices of good and services rise and everyone suffers. We either eat it or government gets far more involved economically than it has up to now...which is another dark road to go down.

We're in for a whole lot of pain and the GOP isn't even trying to hide it.

Biden in 2020 isn't the person he is today. He's 81 years old and four years in the White House has aged him a lot more than that, like the job usually does.

I love Biden more than anybody here, but he wasn't going to do better tonight than Harris is doing. She was able to make millions of voters enthusiastic and fired up to support her. Biden was never going to be able to recover from the major media hammering him for an entire month for being older, softer-spoken, and less rhetorically sharp.

Exit Polls

Interesting that Kamala is winning amongst those with family incomes of $100k to $200k and also over $200k. Trump winning with those whose family incomes are $30k to $100k. Kamala also wins with those under $30k.

I would have bet everything that Trump would be winning by far with the upper income groups.

If she loses you still have to reconcile the fact that your party didn't have a primary for a popular candidate.

There's nothing to reconcile because your scenario isn't serious.

Nobody makes a serious primary challenge against an incumbent president of the same party who is seeking re-election. It is a strategy that always weakens the incumbent so much that he loses re-election.

#252 | Posted by rcade at 2024-11-06 12:03 AM

Biden in 2020 isn't the person he is today. He's 81 years old and four years in the White House has aged him a lot more than that, like the job usually does.

Which is why I said then what a stupid, shortsighted choice Bide and Harris was.

I love Biden more than anybody here, but he wasn't going to do better tonight than Harris is doing.

Nope. But the Dems should have planned for a one term Biden admin. That had to have known 4 years would render Biden incapable of a second term...or, at least planned for it. Planning for it would have meant a better pick than a mediocre, back of the pack 2020 candidate from a solidly blue state that brought nothing to the table beyond shallow identity politic --------.

She was able to make millions of voters enthusiastic and fired up to support her.

That's yet to be seen. Last I saw, both were in the 50 million something vote range with zero large states left and significant portions of votes already counted. I'd be genuinely surprised if vote counts increase by enough to support your assertion above.

If anything, it seems like the same people who could be relied upon to vote just voted earlier.

Biden was never going to be able to recover from the major media hammering him for an entire month for being older, softer-spoken, and less rhetorically sharp.

If the mainstream press had covered Trump the same way, instead of the double standard where his age, confusion and nonsense didn't matter, tonight would be different.

#229 | Posted by rcade

Coulda shoulda woulda. Again, the contingency planning should have been for beyond 2020. Dems have showed, yet again, why they're a sad excuse for an opposition part to the absolute pile of garbage and bulls*&^ that is the GOP.

RCADE laughed, who is laughing now.

I didn't laugh at the prospect of Biden dropping out and letting Harris seek the nomination in his place. I said originally it wouldn't work.

After seeing the campaign Harris ran and the enormous enthusiasm it generated with large swaths of the Democratic base, I recognized that I was wrong. Harris was stronger than Biden.

As for the idea that an open mini-primary could've happened between Harris, Newsom and others, I think that's extremely far-fetched. There was no time. There was no calendar for that to take place.

#255 | Posted by rcade at 2024-11-06 12:06 AM

If a song makes you run faster in place, does it actually help you?

If vote totals come in below 2020 numbers it will be, yet again, another giant swing and a miss by the media.

Probably because they don't hire people who can think.

Someone explain to me why I should keep traveling the same road.... And do it without silly politics...

How about you tell us what you think Trump is going to do that actually helps any of that?

Trump is not interested in helping you. He only wants to help fat cats like himself. The same kind of people who closed plants and let all those jobs go overseas.

#284 | Posted by rcade at 2024-11-06 12:49 AM

It looks like right now it's going well for Trump. That could change. But if Trump does win, try to accept that most of the negative things you have been told about him are not true.

No, I was making well over $250K (as salary) a year when the plandemic hit. That was the hard part. I had a lot of my personal money tied up in the company in stock options. I was given stock options as an incentive over and above of my salary. In short, I was a partial owner. The stock options plummeted

But the rest of the world doesn't deserve the leadership we deserve. Especially the ones living in poverty and oppression that are frequently the recipients of American bombs or crippling sanctions.
The American Empire won last night- just as it had won in the election before that, and before that, and before that.

#333 | Posted by NerfHerder at 2024-11-06 07:01 AM

The 4 year Biden administration was supposed to vanquish MAGA and instead it enabled it to become more powerful.

I had joked about Joe Biden having the same initials as that other brain-addled old white guy POTUS, James Buchanan, but when history looks back on his administration, it will be considered at the same level as Buchanan's- a complete and utter failure that tore the country in two and led to a hot civil war.

So once again, due to stupidity and hubris, America becomes its own worst enemy. And the ones who will invariably pay will be the poor and oppressed around the world.

Ukraine's war will be over shortly.
Israel will soon have the most beautiful developments rivaling Monte Carol on the west coast of expanded Israel.
Oh - and Palestinians won't be a problem any longer.
We're not going to have Income taxes any longer. Everything will be paid for by tariffs that companies in other nations will pay.
There's going to be a little "bump" as our new bestie China adjusts to the tariffs. Russia and North Korea, though, will immediately be our new besties. Beautiful love letters.
Trump will heal us all. Partly by disappearing those nasty people that have "threatened" him.
And jobs for Americans will be plentiful, a large part of those jobs will be manning deportation camps.
Prices will go back to what they were before inflation. Never mind the way economics actually works - or FVM/PVM concepts. Those are all nonsense perpetrated by "The Elite" of "Economics."

Trump wins and has both chambers.

Shocked that many people - a mandate for sure - voted for him. Shocking that J6 and just the way he conducts himself and rationalises gets him to this point. America loves a train wreck I suppose. He's Joe Biden on sugar.

I said this before on here, maybe people need to see it really collapse before they realize the damage that can be done having this man in charge.

Musk and Kennedy with prominent positions for good measure.....here we go. Fasten your safety belts..not sure where we are headed.

#345 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-11-06 08:23 AM

Ukraine's war will be over shortly. - Never should have started in the first place but when you have a weak Dem leader, them's the breaks.

Israel will soon have the most beautiful developments rivaling Monte Carol on the west coast of expanded Israel. - Or Israel will finally get peace from a group of people that attacked and killed 1200 civilians...oh, and a group of people Israel provided autonomy and independence to years ago but the group of people proved they don't want to be left alone, they want to kill all Jews. The evidence is all out there, you just have to be objective and cut the puppet strings of your party.

Oh - and Palestinians won't be a problem any longer. - For the world's sake, let's hope so. Not that they are killed but that they finally accept Israel wants nothing to do with them and just wants to exist (you know, like liberals are saying Palestinians want but hypocritically do not want that for Israel).

We're not going to have Income taxes any longer. Everything will be paid for by tariffs that companies in other nations will pay. - Thus leading to more jobs in America; the job creation numbers in the last few months don't lie.

There's going to be a little "bump" as our new bestie China adjusts to the tariffs. Russia and North Korea, though, will immediately be our new besties. Beautiful love letters. - You mean having good relations with foreign entities. I am trying to figure out exactly when Dems decided that having good relations with other countries became a bad thing (without injecting made up conspiracies).

Trump will heal us all. Partly by disappearing those nasty people that have "threatened" him. - You mean like the Clinton's have been doing for decades now? Btw, even though both statements are stupid, there is way more evidence proving the guilt of Clinton's than there is with Trump, just saying.

And jobs for Americans will be plentiful, a large part of those jobs will be manning deportation camps. - So getting rid of people here illegally seems to be a worse proposition than turning Americans against each other, e.g. thousands of new IRS agents to ensure we all are controlled as much as possible. Oh, and jobs that solely exist to DEIvide Americans instead of trying to build bridges.

Prices will go back to what they were before inflation. Never mind the way economics actually works - or FVM/PVM concepts. Those are all nonsense perpetrated by "The Elite" of "Economics". - Dems have sat in the POTUS seat the last 12 of 16 years and the economy has been the same beast as it has always been. The only thing truly wrecking our economy are partisan people thinking we live in an economic utopia whenever their party is in the seat, thus not doing anything effective to try to make it actually better.

When you look at the country through objective eyes and not through your puppet masters' strings, things get a lot clearer. I'm not saying anything I've written above is true but they are just as viable as anything you've said. Get rid of your fearmongering and partisan ideology and you will be a much happier person and an American doing what is best for America.

Kamala courageously abandoned her supporters last night.

This is stupid. The race wasn't called until 5:30 a.m. No candidate who is trailing would be giving a speech when it was still undecided.

#351 | Posted by rcade at 2024-11-06 08:49 AM

An Open convention would have possibly prevented this.

The mistake was Biden not stepping down much earlier.

My theory. They didn't want this, first, because there wasn't simply enough time. Would have been very chaotic and made the party look bad right up against an election with in-fighting.

But secondly, I don't think they wanted to expose really good candidates in such a short period of time. That's why Newsome or Shapiro, etc. wanted no part of this. They rolled the dice with Harris and lost. Those guys will be formidable in 2028 esp if a Trump regime goes as I suspect.

#352 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-11-06 08:50 AM

#351 Rcade that's pure BS. Her supporters were gathered and expected the person they supported to support them. Kamala didn't need to concede, she needed to graciously thank them for their efforts and support. She's a cowardly piece ----- terrible person. I feel bad for the people that worked so hard for her and gave her financial support (not the billionaires, the 5 and 10 contributors).

#353 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-11-06 08:56 AM

I am very afraid for many people in our country, individually and collectively. I do not believe in the Trumpian utopia some of you are predicting. I would love to be proven wrong, and God does often work in mysterious ways, but I do not foresee that happening.

My game plan is to live the healthiest life I can, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiriitually, for as long as I can. I'm not sure how long that will be if Trump tanks the economy as Musk says he intends to do and if he puts RFK Jr in charge of healthcare. I will always be grateful for the country that offered the medical care that allowed me to overcome Stage 3B ovarian cancer and that gave my significant other a second chance at life through the miracle of a new kidney.

For those of you who educated me, made me laugh, gave me hope and offered empathy, I thank you.

My friend Herman, who grew up in Nazi Germany and moved to America in his early 20's, had a Germany music program at a local radio station late in his life. His signature sign off was, "Be very kind to each other and remember who loves you."

Let the finger pointing begin:
Biden
Harris
Progressives
Moderates
Independents
DNC
Garland
Schumer
Young voters
Women voters
Muslim voters
The media
Bragg
Black voters
Messaging

When the simple fact of the matter is 50% of Americans chose the monster. They chose to destroy our country. They chose the economic collapse. They chose the deportation of millions. They chose corruption on an epic scale. They chose a nationwide abortion ban. They chose Project 2025. They chose a banding Ukraine. They chose a conservative Supreme Court for the next 60 years. They chose the destruction of the administrative state. They chose stripping women of their rights. They chose the military to put down dissent with the military and violence. They chose marching the us military into cities. They chose a DoJ pursuing a madman's agenda

They chose chaos

During a time of prosperity

They willingly believed lies.

American voters have no excuse to not know what that man is. None zero

May the American voter get everything they voted for

In the end, I think immigration doomed this current administration. Those TV ads I am sure played a major role in the vote.

They waited way too long to address it (via the OK Senator's potential bill), and I know the right didn't exactly play fair along the way - but you needed to make it look like you wanted to help make it better. Not even solve it - but at least take away a huge talking point from the right.

Gal brought up Nazis, why? Grow up. Quit calling us racist, misogynist, homophobic and Nazis. Accept that we won this time and work with us and we'll all be happier.

You must be feeling guilty or paranoid or something. I brought up my friend who grew up in Nazi Germany, who I have mentioned before, because I wanted to quote from his radio show sign off:

My friend Herman, who grew up in Nazi Germany and moved to America in his early 20's, had a Germany music program at a local radio station late in his life. His signature sign off was, "Be very kind to each other and remember who loves you."

And truth be told, visitor, I wasn't even talking to you. I was talking to the people I was thanking and wishing them well:

"For those of you who educated me, made me laugh, gave me hope and offered empathy, I thank you."

Your ignorance is duly noted. We thrive on all forms of immigration. The undocumented do the jobs that Americans won't do. As far as Fentanyl. That's not an immigration problem. Do educate yourself before you opine Jeff.

How will America "thrive on a reduction of illegal border crossings". Please be specific. I have presented specific issues. Please address them

As for fentanyl, you are simply wrong

But most fentanyl is being trafficked by American citizens, not migrants. Data from the United States Sentencing Commission shows that 86.4 percent of those sentenced for trafficking fentanyl were U.S. citizens. Among non-citizens, the data includes those lawfully present and undocumented.

PS As I said, my friend grew up in Nazi Germany, moved to the US in his early 20's, joined the Marines, became a US citizen, married and raised his family here. He was not a Nazi. He was, however, of German descent, which is why he had a German music program late in his life.

If I wanted to accuse you of being a friggin' Nazi, I would have, but like I said, I wasn't even talking to you. Maybe you're the one who should grow up, eh?

www.npr.org

Prosecutors and defense lawyers say Haley's story is typical; the vast majority of illicit fentanyl " close to 90% " is seized at official border crossings. Immigration authorities say nearly all of that is smuggled by people who are legally authorized to cross the border, and more than half by U.S. citizens like Haley. Virtually none is seized from migrants seeking asylum.

#386 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2024-11-06 11:49 AM

Again

"illegal border crossings" are done, primarily, by undocumented immigrant workers.

these immigrant workers perform low paying work in agriculture and construction.

Removing these people from the labor force will cause labor prices to rise. More labor removed, more labor prices increase. that is basic economics, supply and demand.

Labor prices increase will have 2 impacts.

1. a reduction in the supply of those products generated by that labor, i.e. fewer crops harvested-this has already been seen after immigrant crackdowns
2. an increase in the price to produce those products passed onto the consumer

this is all basic basic stuff and something NEVER refuted by anti-immigrant folk

Oh yeah and removing the undocumented workers will result in less spending and lower taxes paid, including tax paid by people that don't qualify for the benefits that those taxes pay for. So basically just a cut in tax receipts

A dog whistle sounds like what?
#367 | Posted by visitor_

I really wasn't dog whistling you, but if I had been, so what? I have that right, freedom of speech and all, and like the Veep to be said, Don't be so senstive! LOL

#388 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2024-11-06 11:51 AM

Think how crazy an undocumented immigrant would have to be to smuggle drugs in-they would be putting all of their efforts to get into America at risk.

And think how insane it is that cartels would want to take chances smuggling drugs in with undocumented immigrants.

-This country will thrive on a reduction of illegal border crossings

You believe we will see a reduction in that?

This is such a sensitive political topic, it's hard to believe anybody when it's being discussed.

But let me promise you this......we're going to get the labor.

legal or illegal. Take your pick

we're going to get the labor

The Ag and Food processing/distribution industry will see to it.

So ebs thinks ------- won't do what he said he will do.

People should not have voted for him then

Jeff is too chicken to answer

Don't worry, when Trump and company --- up the economy like Republican adminstrations are capable of doing - esp with a guy like Trump running the show - they'll blame they were "handed a mess" and Dems will again bail out the country.

But no worries, the top 1% will truly benefit. The R's are like an alien that sucks the life out of a economy then leaves it behind for cleanup.

#393 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-11-06 01:00 PM

You believe we will see a reduction in that?

Who knows, but be damn sure Trump will be out there with graphs and mouthpieces telling us so, and many will believe it without the fact checking.

#394 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-11-06 01:02 PM

With a Senate majority should Trump add seats to SCOTUS?

Why not? R's already "packed" the court with their poltical antics involving Garland and Coney Barrett.

I never knew the rule was when a sitting president has the Senate - you just push it right through regardless of an pending election.

But when you don't - you delay it until the next presidential election where the people can decide (eye roll)............

So I just want to get this straight... the left is advocating to allow the flow of virtual slave labor, to keep prices low?

This is a capitalist country. You can deal with the realities of it or not. Your choice of course.

#396 | Posted by kwrx25

Here, let me lay this to rest quickly.

the left is NOT for allowing the flow of virtual slave labor.

We are for a rigorous and healthy immigration policy that allows for a significant number of workers, who are paid and treated justly.

We are for a secure border allowing immigrants to come in legally, work, pay taxes, have decent working conditions.

-------- plan is NOT that.

You have been informed.

Game over. America is 6 months away from irreversible s--thole country status.

There's nothing we can do to fix the stupid.

Enjoy the return of polio, everybody!
