Trump's campaign revealed little about the presumptive GOP nominee's top considerations until then, saying anyone who claimed to know specifics was "lying unless that person is named Donald J. There were definitely contenders who brought less to the ticket, like that governor from ND.

In a 2021 speech to the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, Vance blamed "the childless left" for America's woes. He praised conservative Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbn for encouraging married couples to have children and said that parents should "have a bigger say in how democracy functions" than non-parents.

And so getting rid of them and making it easier for people to shift spouses like they change their underwear, that's going to make people happier in the long term.'"[91] Vice wrote that Vance "seemed to suggest that in some cases, 'even violent' marriages should continue.

Well, that's the GOP gone Full Crazy Fascist Mode.

"Trump's VP pick is a naked authoritarian

The thing to understand about J.D. Vance is that he doesn't believe in democracy.

Vance has said that, had he been vice president in 2020, he would have carried out Trump's scheme for the vice president to overturn the election results.

He has fundraised for January 6 rioters. He once called on the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into a Washington Post columnist who penned a critical piece about Trump.

After last week's assassination attempt on Trump, he attempted to whitewash his radicalism by blaming the shooting on Democrats' rhetoric about democracy without an iota of evidence.

This worldview translates into a very aggressive agenda for a second Trump presidency.

In a podcast interview, Vance said that Trump should "fire every single mid-level bureaucrat" in the US government and "replace them with our people."

If the courts attempt to stop this, Vance says, Trump should simply ignore the law."

"Ignore the Law!" is likely to become the new MAGA chant.

I didn't read the book, but if she was an addict, she likely threw her children under the bus. Most addicts do. I just read a review, which said that she was often violent and abusive and that he and his sister had 15 "stepdads" growing up. Terrible way to treat your own children. Do you expect mothers to protect their children? Or do you expect children to stay silent to protect their mothers? Today she is 6 years sober, a journey that began after the book led her to the realization of how her behavior impacted her children, so maybe "throwing her under the bus" wasnt such a bad move.

You're wrong about everything you typed. Yes...all of it.

I do understand it.

Loyalty, much like trust....is given. It can be earned or not. But the most significant action of loyalty is given...not earned. Earned just makes it seem right in people's eyes.

But you and I both know of individuals who have been given trust and loyalty...that didn't deserve it nor did they earn it. But someone GAVE it to them regardless.

We also know folks who have EARNED loyalty....and still didn't receive it from the folks they believe owed it to them.

People don't understand loyalty or trust. They wrongly believe that it's earned....because sometimes that's actually true.

But the real determining factor in loyalty is whether or not it's given

... Vance has also called for dismissing scores of federal workers to replace them with Republican loyalists, saying in a 2021 interview he would "fire every single mid-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people."

Those remarks echo proposals in Project 2025, a blueprint being crafted by some of Trump's closest former advisers that calls for shuttering some federal agencies and replacing civil servants with officials deemed more loyal to the former president.

...

"Here's the deal about J.D. Vance. He talks a big game about working people. But now, he and Trump want to raise taxes on middle-class families while pushing more tax cuts for the rich," Biden said in a post on X.

The president's campaign also noted Trump's falling out with his last running mate, former President Mike Pence, over his refusal to block the certification of Biden's election win. Protesters in the mob of Trump supporters who marched on the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 chanted "Hang Mike Pence."

Biden campaign chair Jennifer O'Malley Dillon said Trump tapped Vance because he "will do what Mike Pence wouldn't on January 6: bend over backwards to enable Trump and his extreme MAGA agenda, even if it means breaking the law." ...

Look, I don't know much about this guy, Your #1 comment, which appeared to victim-blame a child for their exposing their abusive mother triggered me. Seemed kinda odd since just yesterday you were victim blaming the guy murdered at the Trump Rally who threw himself over his wife and daughter. You criticized a dead man for bringing his "child" to the venue. (His daughter is an adult)

The thread is still up, there is still time if you want to redeem yourself and show how compassionate you are towards this family (and call out people like you who "trash" parents even after they are dead). Scroll on down to #732, bring your friends.

Distasteful? Pot meet kettle. A recap in case you are too lazy... Somehow your response to my post is inconsistent with someone who wouldn't speak ill of a Parent:

His name is Corey Comperatore. He died after throwing his body over his wife and daughters to protect them. He was a volunteer firefighter who was the first to run into a burning building, and a supportive "cheer dad" for his daughters who taught him how to do a cartwheel for a parents mock competition.
He was a big Trump supporter, but friends who are Biden supporters spoke out, saying their friendship transcended politics, and they didn't let their differing political views come between them.
Two people remain in critical condition. Maybe you could take the time to look up their names yourself.

It's inappropriate" That is literally ALL you have said. Please don't attend any funerals. You don't have a compassionate bone in your body.

Fair enough and maybe I'm no longer able to determine what pain Trump feels...because it doesn't seem to afflict him the way it afflicts most politicians.

Nah at this point there isn't really pain. It's all about that tiny sliver of voters in the very middle and they're not likely to see Vance in a positive light IMO.

#90 From the little bit I read, his family should be embarrassed. Apparently the book convinced his mother of just how bad her addiction had impacted her children, and as a result, she finally got sober and is doing well. So I'd guess Vance (and his sister) are "Sorry, not Sorry"

"Vance even criticized Trump while promoting the book, saying, "I think that he's noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place."

"A few months later, when the infamous Trump Access Hollywood tape came out, Vance warned, "Fellow Christians, everyone is watching us. When we apologize for this man, lord help us."

Throughout 2016 and 2017, Vance liked tweets critical of Trump, including that he committed "serial sexual assault" and was "one of USA's most hated, villainous, douchey celebs."

In a set of since deleted tweets, Vance also criticized Trump's response to the 2017 neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, writing, "There is no moral equivalence between the anti-racist protestors in Charlottesville and the killer (and his ilk)."

But of course, like many other Republicans, the self-described "Never Trump" Republican soon changed his tune on Trump, fully backing Trumpism by the time he began his run for the Senate in 2022..."

He had the support of Silicon Valley tech moguls like Peter Thiel and David Sacks, and Rubio was opposed by several in the Trump camp, including Donald Trump Jr, whom Vance seems to have successfully buttered up.

One Republican strategist criticized Vance's lack of experience when he was still only on Trump's V.P. shortlist, saying,

Well, now J.D. Vance is the Republican vice presidential nominee, and if Trump wins in November, he'll be a heartbeat away from the presidency."

He hated Trump, even saying he'd vote for Hillary Clinton rather than Trump.
He called Trump "Hitler."

What happened? Did torture turn Vance as that inflicted by O'Brien turned Winston to The Party?
Or was it the appeal of "a boot stamping on a human face - forever" prove too powerful? Too desirable? Too cathartic?
Was this the path, finally, to stomp on his mother's face forever?

In a 2016 article in The Atlantic, "Opioid of the Masses," Mr. Vance wrote: "During this election season, it appears that many Americans have reached for a new pain reliever." He went on: "It enters minds, not through lungs or veins, but through eyes and ears, and its name is Donald Trump."

He went even further in a July 2016 opinion piece for The Atlantic, titled "An Opioid for the Masses," Vance wrote of Trump's big campaign promises, "He never offers details for how these plans will work, because he can't. Trump's promises are the needle in America's collective vein ... Trump is cultural heroin. He makes some feel better for a bit. But he cannot fix what ails them, and one day they'll realize it."

people.com

Here's Vance's article from 2016:

Opioid of the Masses

To many, Donald Trump feels good, but he can't fix America's growing social and cultural crisis, and the eventual comedown will be harsh.

What Trump offers is an easy escape from the pain. To every complex problem, he promises a simple solution. He can bring jobs back simply by punishing offshoring companies into submission. As he told a New Hampshire crowd"folks all too familiar with the opioid scourge"he can cure the addiction epidemic by building a Mexican wall and keeping the cartels out. He will spare the United States from humiliation and military defeat with indiscriminate bombing. It doesn't matter that no credible military leader has endorsed his plan. He never offers details for how these plans will work, because he can't. Trump's promises are the needle in America's collective vein.

Nice article, Gal.

Of course, that was before Mandel, I mean, Vance, needed the Opioid Dealer to the Masses to support his personal power trip, aka his Senate Campaign in backwoods Ohio.

He even said back then that Trump was, leading white workers into a dark place.
.

"He previously wrote in 2016 that he was going to vote for a third party because

"I can't stomach Trump." He told NPR:

"I think that he's noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place."

In the same month as the NPR interview, Vance penned another op-ed, this one for The New York Times, in which he said that "Mr. Trump is unfit for our nation's highest office."

And you always buy loyalty.

you received something for it.

love
