The average Conclave, at least for the last three or four Popes, has been two-days or so. The shortest Conclave was 10-hours in 1503. The longest was just short of three-years in 1268, after which was when then started locking the Cardinals in St. Peters so that they were motivated to be a bit more expeditious.

The new Pope is an American, Cardinal Robert F. Prevost, from Chicago.

WASHINGTON: In a gesture intended to welcome the new pontiff, on Thursday Donald J. Trump offered to sell Pope Leo XIV a $60 Bible.

"You want to grab this deal while you can," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "It's gonna cost a lot more after EU tariffs."

Calling the Trump Bible "a very special Bible," he added, "I know you have a lot of Bibles already at the Vatican, but none of them have parts written by Lee Greenwood."

Meanwhile, in his first official act as pope, Leo ordered a photo of JD Vance posted at the Vatican security desk.

They at least tend to try to live the Way that Jesus taught, which was loving others. And not just family, friends, and neighbors. Loving the immigrants, strangers, foreigners... the poor and sick is as Godly as one can get in both the OT and the New.

Israel was told after their 400 year captivity that they should always remember what it was like to be the slave, the foreigner, the immigrant, and to treat people the don't know as if they did.

This was a well understood 11th Commandment in the OT, and integral to the NT teachings.

Which MAGA has no clue about whatsoever.

VATICAN CITY " In Italy he's known as the Latin Yankee.

Robert Francis Prevost, anointed Pope Leo XIV on Thursday, is the first American pontiff in the Catholic Church's history.

But Vatican observers will quickly tell you that he's much more than that: a worldly clergyman as Latin American as he is North American, and a potential bridge builder between two increasingly distant Catholic worlds.

"He's like a dual passport holder, he's the perfect pontiff for the present moment," said Miles Pattenden, papal historian and lecturer at Oxford University.

An added benefit of this choice - in a world going "WTF?!" over Trump/MAGA - amid the global dislike of America because of Trump, now have an American in a more powerful position as a world leader, and one who'll call out the anti-Christian GOP/MAGAts who purposefully violate Christian principles on a daily basis.

In every way, Pope Leo is the polar opposite of Trump. Hopefully, that'll earn America some goodwill back.

Before becoming pope, Prevost, who is 69, was the head of the church's Dicastery for Bishops, meaning he oversaw the selection of new bishops. Overall, he's considered a centrist, but on many social issues he's seen as progressive, embracing marginalized groups like Francis, who championed migrants and the poor.

As some of you know, I keep up with UAP news and follow the latest developments. What was once the domain of "kooks" and fringe theorists has now moved into serious, mainstream discussion even by our own Congress and the potential threat to our national security.

The newly elected Pope, Leo XIV, has deep ties to Peru. He began his missionary work and later became a citizen.

Interestingly, in recent years Peru has seen a noticeable uptick in UAP sightings. It's enough their government has reactivated a formal investigative body (DIFAA) to study them.

Peru is also home to some of the most baffling ancient stonework on Earth. There are sites with massive granite, limestone, and basalt blocks that are cut with such precision that modern engineers say would be extremely difficult to reproduce even with today's tools. Perfectly flat planes, tightly matched edges, and symmetrical drilled holes all dating back more than 2,000 years. We don't know the techniques or tools they used.

I'm not suggesting there's any connection between the Pope's Peruvian roots and these mysteries.

But in the broader context of strange things we're seeing these days with UAPs and phenomena that seem to defy explanation, I do find it interesting.

My main concern about the new pope is he is all over the news. Lewzer's picture was not on the BBC front page for the first time in months.

Lewzer is going to do something crazy to get the spotlight back.

Donner,

"Ha. Remember that whole "do unto others as you would have others do unto you"?

If you judge others, make sure your hands are clean and you're not guilty yourself.

Jesus said it better

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
" Matthew 7:1"2

I am not a judge.

Just a witness testifying to a crime.

Donner,

My comment was a joke about being abducted.

Get a sense of humor.

Seriously?

What you have said while we are all under the threats of the current regime is not a joke. Trumpy has threatened to send "Homegrowns" (also known as American Citizens) to a gulag in El Salvador.

So no ... It's not funny that we are sending innocents to a gulag in El Salvador and it is nothing to joke about.

And I bet if there is a God He doesn't think it's funny either.

Donner,

El Salvador?

Where did that come from? No...don't answer.

I joked about being abducted by aliens from outer space...not illegal aliens.

I'm not smoking the same thing you are so we're on different wavelengths.

(Hint: that's a joke)

Re 104

It's not me or my sense of humor you need to worry about numbnuts.

And we are definitely not on the same wavelength or possibly even the same planet.

"even the same planet."

Probably so.

Did Rogers get the LeoXIV.com domain?

I mean, the new pope was head of the Augustine order, the St. Augustine connection ... a sign? :-)

Speak,

Would be great if you and a few others here would be abducted and not brought back.

I think our species would benefit more if the harmful members were removed. The people who take far more than they need. The people who spread lies and hatred for personal benefit. The people who say empathy is a weakness. The people who ignore all the teachings of jesus while claiming to be his followers.

Speak,

I'm curious.

Are you claiming you've never taken more than you needed, never spread something false, or acted without empathy?

Because unless you're the one perfect person walking the earth, your argument lacks both credibility and self-awareness.

And unless you're a Christian (I suspect you've never accepted that label for yourself) then that last bit of finger-pointing isn't even yours to make.

Actually, there's a Catch 22 with Christians. We're all hypocrites. It comes with the territory. We all fall short of the higher ground we look up to.

So I ask...are you holding people to a standard you don't follow and judging them as you go?

No I'm arguing that the worst offenders should go first. Of which I am nowhere near the top.

The TU QUOQUE argument you're using is a favorite of fascists, who love to argue "well the other side isn't PERFECT so they are in no position to criticize us (even though we're far worse)"

I don't go to church but I'm a better christian than you and every other moron who went and voted for the antichrist to be presidnt.

Sy,

Why should anyone be talking about my wife at all? It's lacking a basic understanding of boundaries and respect.

If someone thinks it's funny to take shots at someone's family, that says a lot about their character, not mine.

Grow up.

Probably because you're always talking about other women's wives, and other men's husbands.

If you didn't start none
There wouldn't be none.
