Breaking News.
It's been revealed the Minnesota democratic lawmakers shot last night, State Rep. Melissa Hortman and State Sen. John Hoffman, both recently voted against their party, with Hortman supporting repeal of free healthcare for illegals and Hoffman joining Republicans in the Senate to pass it.

I live in MN. What is being reported is police first responded to the Hoffman shooting. The police knew Hortman lived closed by so they went to check on her. There was a black SUV with light flashing parked in her driveway, and they came face to face with the shooter who engaged in a gunfight. He went back in the house and now there is a manhunt. They found a manifesto in the vehicle with a list of other democratic targets. The shooter was impersonating a police officer. Police were warning legislators to not open the door unless there are 2 officers knocking.

I'm sure that the assailant just thought he was "liberating" Minnesota.

Political manifesto found in his car.

Almost all domestic terrorism in this country is from the far right, and has been for decades, so it's likely we'll be thanking Trumpers yet again.

"Political manifesto found in his car."

Along with a potential hit list, right?

Remember when Trump joked on the cammpaign trail about the man who broke into Nancy Pelosi's house and took a hammer to her husband's head and his supporters thought it was funny?

Don't know yet but this could be part of the shooter's motivation:

Anthony Zurcher
@zurch.bsky.social

A horrible incident--and one that could have significant (and, perhaps, intended) political consequences. Democrats have a one seat majority in the Minnesota Senate and the state House is tied. There have been contentious special elections that have flipped control three times since November

Firearm licenses in 2021: 129,825; an estimated 42.8% of Minnesotans share their homes with at least one firearm. Not suspected of having an accomplice. Timeline is around 2 am Hoffman and wife shot in Champlin. About an hour and a half later, Champlin police realized that another legistator lived close by (6 miles away) and decided to to check on her, found vehicle with flashing lights in driveway and suspect coming out of her house. He went back in the house and out the back door.

Hmmm:

Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley confirmed that a "manifesto" was discovered in the vehicle of the Minnesota shooting suspect. The document reportedly included a list of names.

"When we did a search of the vehicle, we did find a manifesto that identified many lawmakers and other officials. We immediately made alerts to the state to provide security wherever necessary," he said in a press conference.

According to ABC News, the list included several high-profile Democratic politicians, such as Governor Tim Walz, Representative Ilhan Omar, Senator Tina Smith, and Attorney General Keith Ellison.

CNN further reported that the names also included abortion providers and pro-abortion rights advocates. A law enforcement official told the network that authorities also discovered a Father's Day card addressed to the suspect inside a bag filled with ammunition.

Just because Walz appointed him to Governor's Workforce Development Board (GWDB) doesn't automatically mean he was a Democrat. He could be, but the board is bipartisan:

Members of the GWDB are appointed by the Governor and serve three-year terms on the board. As required by WIOA and state law, the majority of GWDB members are representatives from businesses across the state. Other members of the board include representatives from labor unions, higher education, Commissioners (or their designees) from various state agencies, legislators from both branches of the Minnesota Legislature, and members of community-based organizations that have demonstrated experience in addressing the employment, training, or education needs of individuals with barriers to employment. There are also many non-voting members of the board that represent state agencies, public education, various state advisory councils and offices, and other workforce development partners.

CNN further reported that the names also included abortion providers and pro-abortion rights advocates. A law enforcement official told the network that authorities also discovered a Father's Day card addressed to the suspect inside a bag filled with ammunition.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. Tim Walz called "a politically motivated assassination." Authorities say the same suspect also shot and wounded a second lawmaker.

This from the NY Post:

The apparent hit list included abortion providers, clinics and Planned Parenthood, sources told The Post, theorizing the suspect may have been harboring pro-life views. Both of the Democrats he targeted were pro-choice.

Police are weighing whether Boetler held extreme anti-abortion views, sources said.

Hortman was virulently pro-choice and led the Minnesota House in passing the PRO Act in 2023, which codified the legality of abortion and other forms of reproductive health care. She also boosted funding for abortion clinics and passed protections for providers.

#151 | Posted by donnerboy

The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a Christian supremacist[1] theological belief and controversial movement associated with the far-right that combines elements of Pentecostalism, evangelicalism, and the Seven Mountain Mandate to advocate for spiritual warfare to bring about Christian dominion over all aspects of society, and end or weaken the separation of church and state. NAR leaders often call themselves apostles and prophets. The movement is heavily associated with C. Peter Wagner, who coined the term and founded the movement's characteristic networks. Wagner himself described the NAR as "the most radical change in the way of doing church since the Protestant Reformation."

Long a fringe movement of the American Christian right, it has been characterized as "one of the most important shifts in Christianity in modern times". With the 2008 publication of Wagner's Dominion! How Kingdom Action Can Change the World, the movement began a greater focus on gaining political influence"through spiritual warfare"in order to effect societal change. The NAR's prominence and power have increased since the 2016 election of Donald Trump as US president. Theology professor Andr Gagn, author of a 2024 book on the movement, has characterized it as "inherently political" and said it threatens to "subvert democracy". Religion scholar Julie Ingersoll states the movement is "often...now the public face of Christian Nationalism."

The Southern Poverty Law Center characterizes NAR as "the greatest threat to American democracy that most people have never heard of". American Republican politicians such as Mike Johnson, Doug Mastriano, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Lauren Boebert and activists such as Charlie Kirk have aligned with it. Some groups within the broader Apostolic-Prophetic movement have distanced themselves from the NAR due to various criticisms and controversies.

Remember that upside down flag that Speaker Johnson and Justice Alito like to fly?

Many NAR adherents have adopted the Appeal to Heaven Flag from the American Revolutionary War that symbolized seeking authority from a power higher than the British king. NAR leaders such as apostle Dutch Sheets popularized the flag to symbolize Christian nationalism, and many participants in the January 6 attack were seen carrying it. Andr Gagn asserts the NAR symbolism of the flag "has completely turned" from the original meaning to now "support the idea that Trump should be president, that he's chosen by God." The flag is displayed outside Speaker Mike Johnson's Capitol Hill office and has flown at the New Jersey vacation home of United States Supreme Court justice Samuel Alito.

He didn't plan on getting confronted by the police in the middle of the night, so who knows who else might have been planning to kill.

"Worked for Tim Walz"

He didn't "work" for Walz:

State records confirm Boelter's past appointments to the Governor's Workforce Development Board, first under Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and then by the current Democratic Gov. Tim Walz. Governors appoint thousands of people of all parties to boards and commissions created by the Legislature for unpaid roles. This particular board has about 60 people, including Republican and Democratic representatives from business, education, unions and community groups. Boelter is listed as "no party preference" on his board profile. Walz's office said it had no familiarity with the suspect.

Again, as I've said before, even if he is a Christian Nationalist that doesn't reflect on anyone else who believes as him.
Certainly, he must have seen and knows things that set him off.
#171 | Posted by BillJohnson

Yeah, he's seen gays come out and earn freedoms that were previously denied. That was a huge motivator for him. I'm guessing that it is not a coincidence that he did this during Pride. He, just like the rest of the Christian Nationalist movement, hates freedom. Strange that's you would bend over backwards to deflect for this murderer when he and others like him would rather that you not exist.

Interview with his lifelong friend and current roommate makes Boelter sounds like a total poser. Said Boelter had been living with him and another guy for a while. Sounds like he is a cosplay military enthusiast. Said Boelter is a manager at some "food place". Also said that the security company was not fully formed and is just "some fantasy" that he would "talk about it but there was no movement on that front."

Dude sounds like just another sad loser who couldn't get what he wanted out of his life so he blamed others for his own shortcomings. Seems to be a common theme among Christian nationalists.
