Trump Suggests Abraham Lincoln Should've Let the South Keep a Little Slavery (october 18, 2024)
www.vanityfair.com

... Donald Trump appeared on Fox News this morning, where, during a characteristically bizarre interview, he suggested Abraham Lincoln could have avoided the Civil War by cutting a deal with the South"which, as a reminder, wanted slavery to remain legal.

Asked by a 10-year-old who his favorite president was when he was "little," Trump began by saying he "liked Ronald Reagan." (Note: Trump was 34 when Reagan first took office, and 42 when he left.) Then he turned to Lincoln, who he believes was a great president"but could've been better if he'd "settled" the Civil War.

"Great presidents?" Trump said. "Lincoln was probably a great president, although I've always said, why wasn't that settled? You know, I'm a guy that -- it doesn't make sense we had a Civil War ... . You'd almost say, like, why wasn't that [settled]? ...

fmr Pres Trump is his full-transaction mode. Settle and move on, don't fight for what is right in the long term.

Russia reportedly meddling in Moldova referendum (October 19, 2024)
www.dw.com

... Russia criticized for meddling attempts

Moldovan authorities have accused Russia and Russian-allied figures of trying to disrupt Sunday's vote with a variety of nefarious tactics. Earlier this month, police officers said 130,000 Moldovans had been bribed with a total of $15 million to vote against enshrining EU ambitions.

On Thursday, police said it uncovered a scheme involving people being regularly sent to Russia for training in how to take part in protests and civil unrest in Moldova, the Reuters news agency reported.

Moscow has denied all allegations of interference in Moldova's electoral process. "We categorically reject these accusations," Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Monday in comments picked up by TASS, a Russian state news agency. "We do not interfere in other countries' internal affairs."

As far back as June, Chisinau's Western allies had sounded the alarm about interference risks in the election. In a joint statement, the US, Britain and Canada raised the "Kremlin's use of criminal groups to finance political activities and undermine Moldova's democratic institutions." ...

What kind of **cked-up world does visitor_ live in?

He actually believes that a woman would carry a wanted child for 6, 7, 8, even 9 months, and then callously she decides to abort said wanted child, because just exactly why?

The reason why is that visitor_ and his ilk believe that women are just too stupid to leave their health care in the hands of the people who actually know what's going on: the woman and her health care provider This includes the decision to abort a child.

So, since visitor_ and his ilk believe that they know what's best for women - women they will never meet and never know - they want the government in the same room as the woman and her health care provider. And why is that? It is because they can't be there themselves.

That's the kind of **cked-up world visitor_ and his ilk long to live in.

Oh, and Happy Anniversary!

Nerf,

You know who is a "ethno-supremacist genocidal psychopath" - Putin. Know who supports Putin over America, Trump and his Project 2025 goons. You want to support that and think that they would be better for America, the rest of the world, or whoever you are obsessing over, then be my guest, vote Trump. You will forever be responsible for what they do in your name.

I'm still an American and put this country above all others. I will vote a straight blue ticket and a doubt I will ever vote otherwise going forward. Republicans have embraced a culture of lies that I will not abide. Conservatives allowed the slaver scum into the party under Nixon, the Evangelical heretics under Reagan, the Catholic Opus Dei under Mitch McConnell and every kind of internet conspiracy theory nutter under Trump. After all that, the nutters outnumbered classical conservatives and took control, barely, and dancing to Putin's toon. It is happening all over Europe as he seeks to break his enemies' alliances apart.

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.

I don't know what your problem is and don't care. Life is too short to spend time trying to figure out what howling idiot radicals for whatever economic, political, philosophical, or religious ideology are yammering about today. I am tired of extremists, all of you. Sad pathetic people that will never know the honest joy of just living their life without trying to manage everyone and everything.

As for Trump, putting aside his criminal past, shady connections to Putin, and constant grifting; he is an incompetent, likely incontinent, old man that seems on the down slope of dementia. His Family and the Party should have acted to get him help long ago. It is almost elder abuse, still he likely deserves it. He has put some of the most wicked people in this life in striking distance of being able to realize all of their weird dreams.
