She never said that. Hardly anyone has ever said that.

So we now know that the FBI had him on their radar in 2023 as someone who made posts about wanting to shoot up a school.
We also know that the school received a warning call yesterday morning about what was to come.

Once again our intel agencies failed at their jobs. The school failed to take action and deemed the threat unworthy of following up on, but somehow passing legislation to ban certain firearms is going to fix this.
And Gracie is correct. More people are gunned down every weekend in Chicago than what we have here but NEVER will we see a headline banner every Monday morning acknowledging it. Puzzling, isn't it?

What did you want the FBI to do? You can't arrest someone for wanting something. And you idiots made taking guns away nearly impossible. Plus you can't take other people's guns away, like his parents' guns, because the kid has issues.

As for local law enforcement, yep. They dropped the ball. But likely they get these calls constantly. What did you want them to do? Send 10 officers to each of the 20 schools in the area each time there is a call?

But yes, let's talk about Chicago that has a lower per capita gun violence rate than places like Georgia and where nearly all the firearm homicides are committed with guns bought across the border in red states.

So, a lack of enforcement? I read today (but haven't verified) that the FBI was flaggged a year ago that this kid was a serious risk and that the school received a call threatening this would happen and no counter measured were taken. also note that news reporting during the first 24 hours of something like this is historically unreliable.

Never worked in the school system I take it? Large school districts get these types of random calls constantly.

What did you want law enforcement to do? Send officers every one of the 20 schools every time there is a call, threat or rumor? They'd be pulling in officers from counties away to do this.

The 14 year old shooter was arrested and will be tried as an adult.
Puleeeze ... . Bleeding hearts will have him out on the streets in no time.
The only ones that will suffer are the families that had their loved ones killed.

Drinking this early in the morning means you have a problem.

I graduated in 1957. We had a school rifle team, most people hunted and fished in this area so guns were common.
The components for school shootings were in place, yet there wasn't one.

There are far far far more guns now with easier access for everyone.
They are more readily available to large numbers of students in suburban and urban areas that didn't have access before.
The guns now are far more deadly and hold more rounds.
The guns have been idolized culturally.
And school shootings are copycat phenomena. (This is a huge problem caused in part by social media and news sites)

Here's the problem, it won't stop there. And its ludicrous because I can pack a .40 cal semi-auto pistol and enough ammo to kill 75 people in my jacket pockets. Hand guns are used to kill people many more times over than AR style rifles are. The AR is the devil gun the government wants to use to disarm Americans.

If handguns were just as good, why are these shootings nearly always carried out with AR-15s or less commonly another assault rifle?

These shooters are looking to create an image, to strike terror for usually feeling left out or bullied, etc. It's about looking tough, not just killing.

A handgun doesn't conjure up that image for them. It's seen as a self defense weapon, not a mass shooting weapon. It doesn't strike the same fear. No one feels like Rambo with a glock or a hunting rifle.

But if a handgun and assault rifle can do the same thing, then what's the problem banning assault rifles? You just said you don't need them anyway.

I have a handgun and an AR-15. I love my AR-15 at the range. But I also don't have kids and it has a trigger lock. I don't keep ammo at home for it. And if a burglar is trying to break in, my first thought would be the handgun. And if we have to get rid of assault rifles, I'd be fine with that.

And seriously, Colt? The kid's named after a damn gun.

Most recently November for possession of methamphetamine, fentanyl and muscle relaxants, and investigators said she also concealed the identity of her vehicle with a tag belonging to another vehicle. He had a dad. Dad wasn't as messed up it seems. He lived with dad.

And we don't have the resources to take all the kids with parents like this.

Start charging those parents and see if that helps.
