Newsmax Projects Dems Win Senate, Sweep Congress
www.newsmax.com

... Newsmax projected Tuesday night that Democrats have won control of the U.S. Senate, completing a congressional sweep after the network earlier projected Democrats would capture the House in a major setback for President Donald Trump and his Republican allies.

The projected Senate takeover came as Democrats notched victories in several Republican strongholds, amid voter frustration over the economy, rising prices, the war in Iran and declining approval ratings for Trump.

The Senate projection followed a series of Democrat victories in closely watched races, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Ohio.

In North Carolina, former Democrat Gov. Roy Cooper defeated Trump-backed Republican Michael Whatley, flipping a seat held by retiring Republican Sen. Thom Tillis.

In Texas, Democrat James Talarico defeated Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton, delivering a major upset in a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide office in more than three decades, according to The Associated Press. ...

Democrats secured control of Congress on Tuesday, flipping the Senate and the House with victories in parts of the country that had been safely Republican for decades, according to Associated Press projections, signaling a sea change in Washington's balance of power.

The wave of Democratic victories came in remarkable form, with deep-red areas toppling to Democrats by decisive margins, and candidates pulling off wins thought to be pipe dreams months ago.

Voters handed the party commanding control of Congress, putting a powerful check on President Trump during his final two years in office. Unified control will provide Democrats with broad investigative and subpoena powers, authority over presidential appointments, control of legislation and federal spending, and the ability to pursue impeachment proceedings.

With 97% of the votes counted there are only 28 votes currently separating the two candidates in the Mississippi senate race. I feel it's a good time to point out that it is the only state in the nation that does not have a law that does not have either an automatic or candidate requested recount law. The only way a recount can occur in the state is via court order.

The state legislature considered an automatic recount law in 2026 but it did not become law.

Support for Individual Property Rights: In his writings and economic analyses, Reich has historically viewed legal property rights as a crucial framework for individual autonomy and a safeguard against state overreach.
Critiques of Corporate/Private Equity Dominance: Reich does not oppose everyday private property or homeownership; rather, he has criticized large institutional investors, hedge funds, and private equity firms buying up vast shares of single-family residential homes, arguing it prices out average working-class buyers.
Opposition to Privatizing Public Services: He regularly argues against turning traditional public goods and community services (such as public education, the postal service, or infrastructure like roads and water systems) over to for-profit corporate control.

1 part Iran war, 1 part tariffs, 1 part immigration enforcement, add a dash of the future of democracy, and shake over ICE. That's the new cocktail I'm calling the Blue Tsunami.

The Blue Wave drink

Hayman's London Dry Gin (1 fl oz)
Light white rum (1 fl oz)
Bols Blue Curaao (1/2 fl oz)
Pineapple juice (3 fl oz)
Freshly squeezed lime juice (1 3/4 fl oz)
Rich sugar syrup (3/4 fl oz)

Enjoy!

Democrats are going to pass surpluses in the House!!

The end to irresponsible spending and borrowing.

Time to payoff the national debt.

No more deficits.

But, have no fear, Republicans. I'm sure Schumer and Co will find ways to squander this advantage as they have in the past.
I honestly wish I could muster much optimism. I've just seen Dem "leadership" screw the pooch too regularly.
Proving me wrong would nothing but thrill me, but, I'm from Missouri.

Marshall has had all the appeal of a fish that's been out in the sun a few days, while Hamilton has been moving in Talarico-style actual practicing Christian mode.
Not much of a surprise.
Farm tariffs have pushed Iowans out of their comfort zone, although the cruelty of the ICE busts have rubbed many the wrong way, not to mention making their lives harder by making farm laborers disappear.

" "Robert Reich."

Why lie?"

Very recently he wrote an article advocating the government seize Musk's companies.

Also, the following representative elects all advocate nationalizing certain industries:

Melat Kiros
Adam Halsey
Chris Rabb
Donavan McKinney
Claire Valdez
Darializa Avila Chevalier
Peggy Flanagan

Throw n Mamdani and Katie Wilson for good measure.

Regardless, I'm not worried. Frankly, I've dealt with small bands of idiots in every board situation I've ever been part of.

For example, feel free to list AOC's committee assignments, and list the laws she's authored. It's embarrassing.

Meanwhile, you're pretending fringe aren't treated like fringe.

My lived experiences disagree.

Here's hoping that with such a strong majority in the House Dems will be in a position to treat them like fringe because they can still get their prerogatives passed without their votes.

Yet she's considered a possible front runner for the party for 2028 POTUS. I'd like to hope primary voters would know better but who knows.

Again...never heard of any of them.

That was said about many GIs who went off to WWII and went on to became heroes, like USN sailor Dorie Miller, US Army NCO Audie Murphy, or the Tuskegee Airmen (the feared Redtails).

Did everyone in the colonies know who all the Founding Fathers were or who were the members of the Continental Congress outside their own states?

Last century many New Yorkers never heard of Burlington Vermont Mayor Bernie Sanders (I) and no one had heard of Lou Gehrig (the "Iron Man"), until he replaced a benched Wally Pipp for the NY Yankees.

Committee assignments are the barometer of trust and sober reflection.

For example, someone with Trump's childish understanding of tariffs would keep him off of EVERY committee using Math.

But I'd definitely vote to put him in charge of party decorations.

(Cups and ice, maybe? He's certainly a feeb.)

Americans took Capitalism away from Cuba.
Our government embargoed Cuba.
Our government interfered in the free market.
Our government prevented American Capitalists from freely doing business with Cuba.
And now we are imposing a fuel blockade. That's the opposite of Capitalism.

You don't seem to understand why that matters.
You don't seem to understand why being shunned by the world's largest economy right next door would be bad for a nation's economy.

Miss Teen USA (1997): Multiple former contestants"including Mariah Billado (Miss Vermont Teen USA)"stated that Trump barged into their dressing room while teenage contestants, some as young as 15, were changing.

Miss USA (2001 & 2006): Former Miss Arizona Tasha Dixon and other contestants stated that Trump walked into the dressing rooms or rehearsal areas while women were half-naked or unclothed, and that staff pressured them to greet him. Samantha Holvey, a former Miss USA contestant, also recounted him walking backstage into the dressing room during the 2006 pageant.
