Biden Pardons his Son

Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Sunday night, a reversal for the president, who repeatedly said he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence.

More

"I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice -- and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision," Biden said in a statement.

Good to see Brandon stepping out.

Now he should pardon anyone Trump has threatened with revenge.

That would be a great Christmas present.

Someone asked me If I had a problem with Trump pardoning Hunter the other day. I said, the country has too many other pressing issues to be diving into petty issues and that I didn't care one way or the other. I'm only here talking about this because Biden said he wouldn't pardon Hunter.

"raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice"

As history will bear out. Rudy G was running all over Eastern Europe with bags full of money for anyone who could frame Hunter Biden... no surprise he found them.

nymag.com

19 September
Giuliani is interviewed by Chris Cuomo on CNN and in a heated exchange at first denies that he asked Ukraine to investigate Biden. About 30 seconds later, he reverses himself. "Of course I did," he says.

www.theguardian.com

Meanwhile, Trumpers have NO concerns at all that Dear Leader committed crimes to overturn an Election in this country.

None. Zero. Zilch.

And if you'd like to get into Trump's pardons.... and the pardons he is about to give himself and other criminals for J6, feel free to do so.

#11 | Posted by Corky at 2024-12-01 08:19 PM

After Republicans lied about Hunter for 4 straight years, this was a smart move by Joe.

I'm still waiting on the smoking gun email republicans claimed existed in 2020.

Face it. Republicans got nothing but lies.

No. I would never be in a position like this because my children grew up understanding that they were responsible for their actions. And I didn't take up for them.

Hunter is a 50 something year old man who has run wild without accountability all his life. It's why he's where he is right now. And Joe is still enabling his schitty behavior.

I think you're wrong.

Sure...there will be the far right fanatics getting bent out of shape but the people I've talked to they totally understand for many reasons.

For one, it would be hard for a father to not do this. Conservatives are a lot smarter and understanding than you give them credit.

Also, I suspect the long meeting Trump and Joe Biden had likely included this subject.

Trump probably said he'd like to see Joe do this to get the issue over and done. Not to mention the possible quid pro quo involved getting charges dropped off of Trump. Again...to let Trump have time to pursue more important matters than court cases.

A....I think you're wrong and just jumping to conclusions based on the fact you don't really understand politics or maybe you're just not a parent.

If you break the law to help Trump OR if you are his friend, he pardons you.

Trump's Pardoning his friends and supporters:

Stephen K. Bannon: Trump's former chief strategist in the White House was in charge of the final months of his 2016 presidential campaign and was indicted in August along with three others on wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges. Prosecutors alleged that Bannon's crowdfunding "We Build the Wall" campaign raised more than $25 million from Trump supporters and used hundreds of thousands for personal expenses.

Paul John Manafort Jr.: Manafort was indicted and either convicted or pled guilty to a long list of charges including illegal foreing consulting work and tax and bank fraud. He was the Trump 2016 Campaign Chairman.

Roger Stone: Stone was convicted of multiple counts of making false statements, obstruction and witness tampering to protect Trump with Wikileaks releases on the Clinton campaign. Trump offered a full pardon. Stone was also caught for the same but larger failure to pay taxes as Hunter Biden but the Trump DOJ/IRS only persued civil remedies.

Michael Thomas Flynn: Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI about conversations he had with Russia. Full pardon.

George Papadopoulos: In 2016, Papadopoulos flew to Russia to meet with the Russian Foreign Ministry after being told they had the stolen Clinton emails. This was before the public was aware of the hacks of the DNC. He also destroyed his private messages with Russian contacts after being interviewed by the FBI. He pled guilty to making false statements to the FBI. Full pardon.

Dr. Faustino Bernadett: Bernadett, a retired anesthesiologist, was sentenced last year to 15 months in federal prison for taking part in a long-running health care fraud scheme where he authorized sham contracts that concealed over $30 million in illegal kickback payments to physicians, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Elliott Broidy: Broidy, a former Republican National Committee finance chair and one of Trump's top fundraisers, was pardoned. Broidy pleaded guilty in October to conspiring to violate foreign lobbying laws.

Paul Erickson: Erickson, a conservative operative with ties to the NRA, came under scrutiny during the investigation into Russian election interference. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud and money laundering in an unrelated case.

Albert J. Pirro, Jr.: Trump granted a full pardon to Albert J. Pirro, Jr. Pirro, Jr., the ex-husband of Fox News host and Trump ally Jeanine Pirro, was convicted on conspiracy and tax evasion charges in 2000.

Aviem Sella: An Israeli citizen, Sella was indicted in March 1987 on charges he recruited convicted American spy Jonathan Jay Pollard to collect U.S. military secrets for Israel. Trump granted him a full pardon and his request was supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Rick Renzi: Former U.S. Rep. Rick Renzi, R-Ariz., was granted a full pardon. In 2013, he was sentenced to three years in prison for extortion, bribery, insurance fraud, money laundering and racketeering in a public corruption case.

Kenneth Kurson: Trump granted clemency to Kurson, the former editor of the New York Observer and friend of Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner who was charged last October with cyberstalking during a heated divorce.

#87 | Posted by Sycophant at 2024-12-01 09:44 PM

It gets better. Trump also pardoned numerous people for gun offenses.

Desiree Perez: Perez was arrested in 1994 for drug possession and in 1998 for grand larceny and possession of a firearm.

Lynn Barney: Trump granted a full pardon to Lynn Barney, who was sentenced to 35 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a previously convicted felon, after having previously been convicted for distributing a small amount of marijuana, according to the White House.

Bill K. Kapri: Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was sentenced to 46 months in prison on federal weapons charges in 2019 after admitting that he falsified information on federal forms to buy four firearms.

Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.: Carter, a rapper who performs as Lil Wayne, was also granted a pardon. He pleaded guilty to a federal weapons charge after he carried a handgun from California to Florida on his private jet.

"Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department's decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.

Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form.

Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election.

Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room " with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter's cases.

No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter's cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son " and that is wrong.

There has been an effort to break Hunter " who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they've tried to break me " and there's no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.

For my entire career I have followed a simple principle:

just tell the American people the truth. They'll be fair-minded. Here's the truth:

I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice " and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision."

#121 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-12-01 11:58 PM

If Trump wasn't planning on going after Hunter, then Joe really didn't do anything and all your bellyaching has been a huge waste of everyone's time.

But, considering republicans have tried, and failed, to tie Hunter and Joe to everything they've insisted he's guilty of, for four years, I'd say a ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Again, where's that smoking gun email that republicans kept boasting about in 2020?

It ended up in some tax evasion? Didn't Trump boast that not paying taxes made him smart?

A gun charge? What happened to all you second amendment advocates? Suddenly there's exceptions to the 2nd amendment?

Talk about being a partisan hack.

You're a fool.

But, that's been pretty thoroughly documented.

Joe admitted in the pardon that the justice department is political and unfair.

The economy doesn't matter, I think Joe left us in a place that we can't recover. It's doomed to tank when Trump quits propping it up with deficit spending.

I want Trump to the spend the next four years prosecuting and persecuting anyone connected with the Biden/Obama/Harris administrations. Gather a list of names and start looking for crimes. Use the full force and all the resources of the Federal Government. I don't care if Trump doesn't get any convictions, bankrupt them with the process.

Maybe this is Joe Biden's revenge for the way his party treated him.

I do strongly suspect the long meeting Trump and Biden had this was most likely discussed ahead of time.

Trump knew this was coming and likely gave his approval.

From what I'm seeing more democrats are upset about this than republicans because of course now Trump is free to pretty well pardon whomever he wishes and he will dare dems to say a word.

What a riot.

Bellringer was dead silent when Trump pardoned Bannon after Bannon ripped off Trump's own supporters.

He's also been dead silent when it comes to the fact Hunter,'s charges virtually never result in jail time. Folks who pay off their back taxes aren't thrown in jail. Folks who lied on the gun application are prosecuted, but it's rarely brought unless the gun was used to commit another crime.

The idea of jailing a guy for an isolated charge of lying on his gun application is obvious lawfare. As is the threat of jail for someone who paid his back taxes, with interest and penalties, after he completed a rehab program.

Anyone upset with Biden, while giving Trump a pass for pardoning folks like Bannon and Manafort, is a hack

This is unacceptable, and I condemn it completely. It is corruption, pure and simple, impeachable as an abuse of power.

The first part of the statement from Joe Biden is true: this prosecution would have never gotten so far except for Trump party pressure. But, there it goes off the rails.

Hunter Biden is a shady character, to put it mildly. He is guilty of tax evasion, and lying on a gun purchase form. He admits these things. Would a normal citizen go to jail on such a gun charge? Probably not. But Hunter brought it on himself, with his excessive lifestyle and constant risky behaviors.

The worst part about this corruption is: Trump will use this as an excuse to do WHATEVER HE WANTS for the next four years, mark my words.

On topic, the topically pardons of this nature occur in the last week of the presidency. For anyone wondering about the timing Bunter was due to be sent need for his convictions next week. From a legal standpoint he's not convicted until his sentence is meted out (same applies to Trump's 34 felonies). So by doing the pardon prior to receiving his sentence the whole thing is expunged from Hunter's legal records as if it never happened.

#324 | POSTED BY LEE_THE_AGENT

The president has Constitutional oversight. Which is unfortunate because that is interpreted by the Supreme Court. Which also supports presidential immunity for ignoring it.

Which presents a bit of problem for democracy doesn't it?

It's unfortunate for you right now apparently. In about a month will probably be unfortunate for all of us.

Unfortunately.

Had Biden restrained himself to only pardoning Hunter for the crimes he's already been convicted of this wouldn't be THAT controversial. But a blank check pardon covering an 11 year span?
#322 | POSTED BY BULLBRINGER

After 4 years of republican witch hunts turning up nothing that they claimed they had on Hunter.

Joe made a rational decision.

Again:

Republicans in 2020: "we have a smoking gun email from Hunter Biden that will prove the Biden family is a criminal organization!"

In reality: Nothing.

Republicans in 2022: "we have a laptop that proves the Biden family is corrupt!"

In reality: republicans accidentally found some pictures which lead to some gun charges which Biden plead guilty to.

BullBringer: We got him!

You're literally the definition of a Deplorable Trumping MAGAt.

Once you are pardoned you are no longer a criminal.

And Donald J Trump is an actually convicted felon. (Who has not had a chance to pardon himself ... yet)

So ...

Have you ever been brave enough to call Donald J Trump a criminal? Because he literally and in reality is one. No kidding and we have the receipts!

At least until he pardons himself. And we all know that's coming, too. Well, some of us do.

You sir, are a lying liar who tells lies.

And this is just another one.

Ivermectin has no beneficial effect for people with COVID-19

Paxlovid (while disgusting to take) shows an 86% reduction in risk of COVID-related hospitalization or death from any cause in patients who took Paxlovid within five days of symptoms.

#380 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-12-03 11:17 AM

I think it's important to point out that Hunter is the son of Joe Biden. Why are Republicans so interested in the President's son? They spend four years trying to impeach JB without any credible evidence. They pulled Hunter to help create the "crime family", but again every lead turned into nothing. I will be first to admit that Hunter is the recipient of "rich privledge". That's a fact of life. He get put on the board at Burisma and what's his experience?

Additionally, Trump has made it a point he'll go after people his second time around. I think Biden probably would not have pardoned his son (given a decent chance he would not see jail time - assumption) unless he felt DJT was going to make his son's life a living hell for actions that still to this day can't be proven.

This pardon was to protect his son during Trump's term. And I agree with a father protecting his son.

Flipside, check out Trump's son-in-law Jared Kuschner, who obtained over $2 billion dollars from the Saudi's (in a business venture he has zero experience) after leaving office. Even Republicans say it's dubious - but guess what - no one invesigates it. Again, "rich privledge". Biden was president for 4 years and there was no investigation. Keep the family out of it.

But what's the key to Trump being prosecuted? He's actually committed crimes as President.

There's the difference, and hence the pardon. And this "no one above the law" blurb is real. Trump went thru it, Hunter was dragged thru it. But just like Hunter was probably NOT going to jail (like Trump), both also would be recipents of an eventual pardon.

Pardons are a real thing.

#381 | Posted by brass30 at 2024-12-03 11:36 AM

#384 | Posted by phesterOBoyle at 2024-12-03 12:33 PM

It's good for big pharma that there are people like you that can be mislead easily with statistics. Does the term "non-statistically significant" have any meaning to you?

The overall median time to sustained symptom alleviation did not differ significantly between the Paxlovid versus placebo groups (12 versus 13 days, p=0.60).

Secondary Findings: Analysis of severe COVID-19 outcomes showed a non-statistically significant lower risk of hospitalization or death among Paxlovid recipients (5/654 or 0.8%) as compared to placebo recipients (10/634 or 1.6%);

#385 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-12-03 12:38 PM

Does the term "non-statistically significant" have any meaning to you?

Apparently not to you or the author of this study you quoted with a ridiculously low sample size.

"none of the five Paxlovid recipients experienced ICU admission or death, whereas 3/10 placebo recipients required ICU admission."

Among the small number who were hospitalized, none of the patients who received Paxlovid were admitted to the ICU. Meanwhile 30% of hospitalized patients who took a placebo ended up in the ICU.

Now show us ivermectins efficacy against COVID.

Other studies with higher sample sizes disagree with your conclusions.

"Apparently not to you or the author of this study you quoted with a ridiculously low sample size. " It was anindustry-sponsored randomized clinical trial. I.E. Pfizer paid for the study.

First off Weiss dragged his feet as long as possible to allow the SOL kick in on as many crimes as possible. Then he came up with a "plea" deal that was so ridiculous that the judge refused to accept it.

Hunter plead guilty on tax evasion to avoid discovery to help out his family KNOWING he was going to be pardoned.

If only that was the whole story. Biden pardons him for ALL crimes and potential crimes starting from 1/1/2014 to 12//2024. Why January. 2014? Hunter joined Burisma a few months later. Of course I'm betting Danforth doesn't see anything unusual about that.

Here's the thing with Bunter's pardon. It's my understanding if he gets called before Congress or a grand jury he cannot lead plead the 5th because his immunity means he can't implicate himself. What that means is we can expect more blanket pardons. James Biden for sure. We will know who else is a member of the Biden crime family based on who else gets pardoned.

Feel free to archive this post. If I prove wrong I'll gladly eat crow

"court martial".....maybe he could.....but I don't know that a pardon could keep the CIC from removing anyone.

#408 | Posted by BellRinger

Crow must be your diet staple.

Eating it has no effect on you. You have no personal pride.

There is no "Biden crime family". The Trump DOJ is going to manifacture one.

So yeah and of course, blanket pardons for just a truck load of innocent people because you and Donald are pigs who have no concept of innocence.

Personally I just don't give a crap if he pardoned his son for inconsequential crimes far short of attempting a coup. Y'all didn't just ignore Trump's crimes; you vited for im for President.

Some folk are very unhappy with Joe Biden's decision to pardon his son Hunter for any crimes he committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

They're a group of three former aides and loyalists to former President Barack Obama"Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor"who were often referred to as the "Obama bros" when the trio worked for the White House.

Vietor said he understood Biden's decision on a "human level," but was frustrated that the president had made his defenders within the Democratic Party look "stupid" by reneging on his pledge not to pardon his son.

"Now everyone looks stupid. Everyone looks like they are full of s---," Vietor said.

Meanwhile, bro Jon Favreau, the former director of speechwriting for Obama, thought Biden should have pardoned a whole lot of other shady operatives if he was going to shower mercy on his son.

"great and omnipotent ZED"

I just recognize my personal worth.

If you would just pay attention to me, you'd have a much better life.

#425 | Posted by Zed at 2024-12-04 09:31 AM

"Hunter joined Burisma a few months later. Of course I'm betting Danforth doesn't see anything unusual about that."

"Burisma" is a self-own, much like "Russia Hoax", "Vince Foster" or "Benghazi".

The facts are out there; some choose to pretend ignorance for political purposes.

#426 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-12-04 11:01 AM

Trump needs to develop a comprehensive list and use the full force of the government to investigate and find their crimes. If they lie to the FBI that's an easy felony. Convictions don't matter, Trump needs bankrupt them with the process. Turn the Democrat process against them.

Hunter Biden can and should be prosecuted in civil court for fraud.

#427 | Posted by visitor_ at 2024-12-04 11:04 AM

Danforth,

Why a blanket pardon going back 11 years? You have absolutely no problem with that?

You claim to want to hold all politicians accountable but that really does not appear to be the case.

#428 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-12-04 11:10 AM

Shut up , Dumbass. You're the one who sent him on his way because you changed the thread subject matter. Go take care of yourself, moron.

GFY turdbot

I don't have to accept lies on my thread.

I did not bring up ivermectin in my thread. I only debunked his lies.

Ivermectin is not as effective as Paxlovid.

Which is why 4 out 5 dictators and fools such as yourself still recommend it.

#429 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-12-04 11:32 AM

Why a blanket pardon going back 11 years?

11 years covers the period of the laptop nothingburger.

#427 | POSTED BY VISITARD

So ... Lawfare?

Yes embrace that hate. Let it flow thru you. Let it consume you.

THIS level of irrationally motivated hate for someone just because of who he is related to is exactly why Biden pardoned his son.

Enjoy your ignorance and hate. Maybe spreading some more ivermectin lies will make you feel better.

#431 | Posted by donnerboy at 2024-12-04 11:42 AM

Trump needs to develop a comprehensive list and use the full force of the government to investigate and find their crimes.

This irrational hate and push to weaponize the DOJ is exactly why everyone on Trumpy's "enemies list" should receive a blanket presidential pardon.

"Why a blanket pardon going back 11 years?"

Were you asleep for all the Comer-Jordan clownshow?

Have you heard Trump's nominees advocating the weaponization of the DOJ? Patel himself said he'd go after folks who are lying about who actually won the 2020 election. Did you get that: prosecuting folks FOR TELLING THE TRUTH.

Have you heard Trump himself saying he'll go after his political enemies?

FFS, Biden should pardon the Obamas and the Clintons, too. Fauci as well.

#434 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-12-04 11:51 AM

If it's a "nothingburger" why a blanket pardon? Why not just pardon the gun crime and the tax evasion conviction?

It's utter garbage like you are posting for why the blanket pardon needs to exist. Folks like you are consumed, as you've been indoctrinated to be, by phantom evils, threats, and conspiracies.

#435 | Posted by YAV at 2024-12-04 11:51 AM

Jeff doesn't care. He supports sweet potato Hitler. AKA Trump.

#436 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2024-12-04 11:56 AM

"If it's a "nothingburger" why a blanket pardon?"

Because defending yourself against completely bogus charges costs a lot of money and eats a lot of time. You wouldn't like it if YOU were the target: six figures, at a minimum. Have you got that kind of money laying around you could waste defending a false charge?

FFS, you screeched LAWFARE every day regarding Trump, and the only case you could pretend was lawfare is a crime that gets charged FOUR TIMES IN AN AVERAGE WORKDAY. (Math: 9700 cases, 9 years, 225 workdays/yr)

Meanwhile, you'd be fine if Hunter got jailed for a tax charge folks don't get jailed for, and a gun charge "no USA would bring", according to Eric Holder. That's clearly LAWFARE, and here you are defending it.

#437 | Posted by Danforth at 2024-12-04 11:58 AM

"Trump needs to develop a comprehensive list and use the full force of the government to investigate and find their crimes."

A Trumpy appointed judge doesn't approve of a Biden pardon.

More importantly, he said he will formally terminate the proceedings in the tax case once he is provided with an authorized copy of the pardon paperwork.

Re 452
