Having been a member myself i know exactly how they think.
They were trained to think in terms of war and violence. And we are very mission oriented. Give me a clear mission and I will successfully complete it. If your mission is unclear I will gladly tell you and refuse to do it until it is made clear me what success looks like.

The military prioritizes collective mission success and looking out for peers, whereas civilian life often emphasizes individual achievement and personal goals.
Service members frequently develop a dark or crude sense of humor as a psychological tool to process high-stress or traumatic situations, which civilians may find jarring or inappropriate.
I still spew rude curses randomly even today decades later.
Ex-military often retain old military habits.
I often referred to it as brainwashing so I could separate it from other types of training I received in life to maintain a mental balance.
The conditioning we receive preparing us for battle means veterans often view everyday civilian concerns through a very different lens than everyone around them.
It takes years of reprogramming to get your brain to act "civilized" again after preparing for or going to war. Something we are not great at as a society.
