In case you're just waking up, the U.S. has teamed up with Israel overnight to start an illegal war of regime change, apparently on a presidential whim with no involvement of Congress, and they are already committing horrific atrocities.[image or embed]

The United States and Israel have launched an attack on Iran, with explosions heard and seen across Tehran. Several missiles have struck University Street and the Jomhouri area in Tehran, Fars news agency reported.

But Trump did it anyways.

MAGA? Hello, MAGA?

Many of you voted for Trump because he said he wouldn't start any wars. You are a bunch of really gullible, dumb morons.

Now he's started a war after pulling out of a nuclear deal that was verified as working as agreed (with 24/7 cameras to monitor enrichment facilities, inspections, and all) and claimed to be "renegotiating" a replacement deal, seeking essentially the same deal he himself ended.

US Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) vowed to continue sending billions of dollars of hardworking American taxpayer funds to Israel and to block any legislation that would be harmful to Israel.

Meanwhile, Israelis enjoy world class universal healthcare while we in the US are dealing with austerity measures in our for-profit healthcare system and the ramifications of the "Big Beautiful Bill" (the 'BBB').

USSECSTATE Marco Rubio, the very definition of an 'Empty Suit,' was vetted for his prestigious and powerful position by none other than mega-oligarch Larry Ellison, based on his fealty to Israel. The good-for-nothing Larry Ellison is close friends with the nefarious ICC-indicted war criminal Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Marco Rubio Loyal to Israel

Dummkopf Trumpf, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Russia President Vladimir Putin are all three bloodthirsty warmongers. American candidates from either party that didn't oppose this act of war will not get the vote of the crucial antiwar bloc on the imminent primary election days or Tuesday 3 Nov 2026.

How does attacking Iran lower food or pharmacy prices in the US?

How does this attack on Iran, without a Congressional Declaration of War, help a firefighter in California, a school teacher in Brooklyn, a musician in Austin Texas, a homeless person in Michigan, a farmer in Iowa, a biologist in Madison, a GSA police officer in Washington, a patient who can't afford his medical bill in Indiana, a truck driver in Georgia, a dance performer in Las Vegas, a mother of three in Atlanta working two jobs to put food on the table, an auto mechanic in Kansas, or a dentist in Oregon?

How?

Maybe you have a point. But you MAGAts have no problem selling the democracy of Ukraine to a Russian dictator who has murdered over 100,000 of them, and maimed another 500,000 in an unprovoked war of aggression, so where's the consistency?

And Illegal wars are a crime. And how do you think this will end now? Is there an exit strategy? Not likely. Not to mention the costs. (deficits don't matter until Dems are back in power)

If Congress does not speak now for the People who are NOT at war with Iran then we are not a representative democracy anymore. We are an aristocracy. A monarchy. A facist dictatorship. With all power vested in the presidency. The President is not authorized by the Constitution to declare war. This is not how our government was designed to function. And it will not end well.

Bill, the US is no longer part of the "free world." Our government is murdering our own citizens in the streets and then hiding evidence and buying the investigations. We are murdering boaters based on unsupported claims they are terrorists or whatever thing we label them without evidence. We are engaging in piracy by seizing the vessels of other nations. We are insulting our NATO allies and threatening to invade them.

Nearly 50 years ago when I was starting college, Iran was already a major concern in the region and a constant topic of conversation.

Of course it was. By our own actions. WE DID THAT. We started this snowball rolling.

That was when America (the CIA) helped restore the Shah to power in a 1953 coup, by 1978, in an effort to control the internal affairs of their country. Ever since the U.S. has been seen as struggling to influence the situation, ultimately leading to the Shahs downfall in 1979 and the collapse of any American relationship with Iran.

And our relation to Iran has deteriorated to what it is today. Obama did make a dent into restoring that relationship. Diplomatically. But Trumpy tore it up in spite. The rest is now history. And America has not learned its lesson even yet about messing in the internal politics of other sovereign nations.

Apparently.

It's not whataboutism.

The president of your choice has done his best to undermine western solidarity supporting a democratic government (Ukraine) fighting an existential war of unprovoked aggression by a dictator. And Trump claimed to cut our funding of Ukraine for financial reasons (even though it was pennies on the dollar for the harm we were doing to our second biggest international threat at zero cost of American lives). And now he's going to spend our money on an enemy that is not nearly the same threat to us.

We could easily support both actions. It's only because of Trump that we're doing one and not the other. And it's only because of Trump that you support attacking one while getting in line behind Trump to orally pleasure the other.

Per Bloomberg TV: Trump gambles new Iran strikes will save flailing MAGA agenda
democraticunderground.com

... The US-Israeli attack on Tehran on Saturday marks a turning point for President Donald Trump, who is wagering that a war - the kind of which he once vowed NOT TO START - will strengthen his second-term agenda.

In a break from his campaign promises to keep the US out of foreign wars, Trump decided to attack - despite what Arab mediators described as significcan progress in nuclear talks with Tehran, and in the face of polling showing MOST Americans oppos fresh military action.

It came less than two months after he order a high-states US military raid inside Venezuela, another signal that his second term has tilted toward muscular intervention abroad.

The Iran strikes are the biggest gamble yet for the US leader, whose approval ratings have plunged in recent weeks, with surveys showing Americans think he is concentrating too much on foreign policy and too litte on the economy. ...

Lives in the Balance

I've been waiting for something to happen
For a week or a month or a year
With the blood in the ink of the headlines
And the sound of the crowd in my ear

You might ask what it takes to remember
When you know that you've seen it before
Where a government lies to a people
And a country is drifting to war

And there's a shadow on the faces
Of the men who send the guns
To the wars that are fought in places
Where their business interest runs

I want to know who the men in the shadows are
I want to hear somebody asking them why
They can be counted on to tell us who our enemies are
But they're never the ones to fight or to die

And there are lives in the balance
There are people under fire
There are children at the cannons
And there is blood on the wire

Stealing Iran's oil is Historically Precedented.

Consortium
With a pro-Western Shah and the new pro-Western Prime Minister, Fazlollah Zahedi, Iranian oil began flowing again and the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, which changed its name to British Petroleum (BP) in 1954, tried to return to its old position. However, Iranian public opinion was so opposed that the new government could not permit it.

Under pressure from the United States, BP was forced to accept membership in a consortium of companies which would bring Iranian oil back on the international market. BP was incorporated in London in 1954 as a holding company called Iranian Oil Participants Ltd (IOP).[41][42] The founding members of IOP included British Petroleum (40%), Gulf Oil (8%), Royal Dutch Shell (14%), and Compagnie Franaise des Ptroles (now TotalEnergies SE, 6%). The four Aramco partners -- Standard Oil of California (SoCal, later Chevron), Standard Oil of New Jersey (later Exxon), Standard Oil Co. of New York (later Mobil), and Texaco -- each held an 8% stake in the holding company.[41][43] In addition, these companies paid Anglo-Iranian about $90 million for their 60 percent share in the consortium, and a further $500 million, paid out of a ten cent per barrel royalty. The Shah signed the agreement on 29 October 1954, and oil flowed from Abadan the next day. Within a few months each of the American companies contributed 1 percent to Iricon, a consortium made up of nine independent American companies, which included Phillips, Richfield, Standard of Ohio, and Ashland.[6]:476"478

The founding members of the IOP at various stages came to be known as the Supermajors, the "Seven Sisters", or the "Consortium for Iran" cartel, and dominated the global petroleum industry from the mid-1940s to the 1970s.[44][45] Until the oil crisis of 1973, the members of the Seven Sisters controlled around 85% of the world's known oil reserves.

All IOP members acknowledged that the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) owned the oil and facilities in Iran, and IOP's role was to operate and manage them on behalf of NIOC. To facilitate that, IOP established two operating entities incorporated in the Netherlands, and both were delegated to NIOC.[41][42] Similar to the Saudi-Aramco "50/50" agreement of 1950,[46] the consortium agreed to share profits on a 50"50 basis with Iran, "but not to open its books to Iranian auditors or to allow Iranians onto its board of directors."[33] The negotiations leading to the creation of the consortium, during 1954"55, was considered as a feat of skillful diplomacy for the Seven Sisters.[43] Some viewed the move as leading to rising tensions with Iran, since it allowed IOP to divert and hide profits with ease -- effectively controlling Iran's share of the profits.

Now I wonder how Mr. Putin is going to feel about this "regime change."

I read recently that Russia is heavily invested (almost $20 Billion) in Iran's energy programs, not to mention lucrative contracts for Russian oil companies to pump in Iran's oil fields.

Then there's that joint 20 year pact (Year 2025) called a Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with key security elements focuses on deepening military, intelligence, and defense industry cooperation to counter Western sanctions.

US strikes against Iran could see oil prices jump $10 to $20 or more with no deescalation
finance.yahoo.com

... Futures on Brent crude (BZ=F), the international pricing benchmark, had jumped by roughly 2.9% to close above $72.80 on Friday, while those on US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude (CL=F) had moved up by a slightly smaller 2.8% to trade above $67 by Friday's close.

Without signs of deescalation over the weekend, prices could surge upward by as much as $10 to $20 per barrel when the market reopens Sunday night, Jorge Len, head of geopolitical analysis at Rystad Energy, told Yahoo Finance.

"Given the scale of retaliation, most of the strategic initiative now lies with Iran," Len said. "How Tehran chooses to respond over the next 24-72 hours -- especially toward energy infrastructure or regional shipping -- will be the primary driver of near-term oil market dynamics." ...

Both Trump and Netanyahu are holding onto hope using every means necessary to ward off their day of reckoning in court over pending criminal charges, for which they've been indicted.

Netanyahu can claim a little more safety for Israel and continue avoiding those trials he and his wife face when he's out of office.

Trump's desperate about his pitiful approval ratings as the midterms approach. This is a "forget-about-Epstein" war.

America's voters are overwhelmingly unhappy with the economy. Wait'll they get a load of paying more at the pump. Tomorrow.

When Israeli civilians are killed by rocket or drone attacks, the Israeli government will bark: "The Iranians targeted civilians!"

The same holds true for Gaza, roughly the size of Philadelphia PA.

Civilians and resistance fighters must share the same space and therefore casualties.

"serial Islamic kidnapping"

How many people sent to the detention camps by ICE have no criminal record or criminal charges filed?

About a hundred times more than United States Embassy hostages.

How many people have ICE released from captivity on humanitarian grounds?

Fewer than the Iranian hostage takers.

I should report something that is NOT true.

there is no truth to the rumor that colleges are passing out Khomani's iranian flag

when you turn in your palestinian flag........

but I'd still wager a bob or two that it will soon.

This is not looking to be a short war

The one good thing at the moment is we don't have sufficient troops to put boots on the ground

So we will be seeing if piggy can do something never before done in history. Win a war with only AirPower

Fuck piggy and fuck his war

And fuck all these war porn cunts

Iranian strategery is to hit civilian sites in Dubai

Isn't Dubia the premier tourist megacity where son-in-law Jarad Kushner is building a new Trump Tower?

It would be a shame if an Iranian missile hit that civilian site./s

US-Israeli attack triggers fear and panic in Iran
www.reuters.com

... Iranians fled cities in search of safety, rushed to stock up on food, and formed long queues at fuel stations as an attack on Iran by the United States and Israel spread fear and panic throughout the country.

When the strikes began on Saturday morning, explosions rocked Tehran and columns of smoke rose into the sky, shaking the city at the start of the Iranian working week. Israel said Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed in the operation, but Iranian authorities have not confirmed his fate.

Residents reached by phone described scenes of chaos and alarm as they rushed to collect their children from school or made preparations to leave home for now. ...

sorry....I forget at times that many of you are functionally illiterate when it comes

I find it impossible to grieve the murder of Khameini. He has been a force for evil for decades. Syria. Lebanon. The entire Middle East. We should have murdered him thirty years ago.

So fanatically evil. I'm surprised he doesn't make an appearance in the Epstein files.

Now if somebody would only take out Netanyahu.

Taking out Khameini isn't a bad thing to anyone outside Iran other than Putin and various terrorist groups.

But putting the People of Iran up against a million man standing Army there is only causing more bloodshed, not less.

This is far from over without an actual Plan, which Trump doesn't have.

A commentator on TV mentioned the difference between the IRGC and the regular army. He said there have probably been talks between the U.S. and military leadership in Iran. IF, and that's a big if, Khamani is killed, the army is the only sizeable group in Iran that could take control of Iran and put down the IRGC, the ayatollah's private security force.

Civilians are always in the crosshairs of the IRGC. Without the army to put them in their place chaos is the most likely scenario.

Now, if the shah's son was actually viewed as a prime minister possibility, as the Iranian diaspora think he should be, and he's backed by the army, it's possible a government could be formed. But no one in the WH has told us what the end looks like.

!@175 ... But no one in the WH has told us what the end looks like. ...

I see a couple of reasons for that...

1) They do not have a plan to attain that end goal, whatever it may be.

2) By not specifying what their end goal is, they can proclaim attaining it regardless of the actual outcome.

One,

"I don't really care who said what, US was always going to attack Iran"

Yes, I agree with your point.

Anyone around the age of 60 or older has watched this build for decades.

Unless Iran changed course, this is where it was headed.

You are selling a false narrative; there's no alt internal political infrastructure to take control of the Gov, and not enough support for any person or group to take control.

Trump has NO Plan for after the destruction of this Regime.... think Syria.

How's that worked out?

Iran supported groups resisting Israeli aggression. After the IDF invaded Lebanon in 1982, they allowed the Christian Falange militia to massacre captured Lebanese and Palestinian POWs while the IDF soldiers smoked cigarettes and put fingers in their ears to not hear the gunfire and screaming.

The ineffective Shia movement (Amal) thus gave way to Lebanese Hezbollah to protect themselves from IDF attacks.

Tehran wouldn't have been supporting guerilla fighters in the Middle East if hadn't been for the IDF exterminating Palestinians or attacking Lebanon and Syria.

Regardless of whoever is in charge in Tehran, they will want to defend their fellow co-religionists in Syria, Lebanon, or Yemen.

Killing this poor guy won't change a thing except anger the Iranian people more.

I haven't seen any terrible language from Ali Khameini other than excoriating Israel for killing Muslims.

Benjamin Netanyahu killed more people than Ali Khameini and Usama Bin Laden combined and was rightfully indicted by the ICC for war crimes.
