I hope she prosecutes the hell out of the criminal traitor.

"Why did literally dozens of your Top Aides testify under Oath to your Crimes on Jan 6?"

"Why did your own daughter say you knew already that you had lost the Election?"

"What are you going to do keep Nick Fluentes on your side?"

Biden and Kamala have a record of pathetic leadership and total inability to negotiate and lead effectively. Germany's electricity supply is becoming increasingly "greener" every year, with the share of renewables growing steadily.

#167 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-09-10 11:09 PM

"The vice president had prepared extensively for their debate, and peppered nearly every answer with a comment designed to enrage the former president.

She told Trump that world leaders were laughing at him, and military leaders called him a "disgrace." She called Trump "weak" and "wrong."

She said Trump was fired by 81 million voters " the number that voted for President Joe Biden in 2020.

"Clearly, he's having a very difficult time processing that," she said.

Trump was often out of control.

He loudly and repeatedly insisted that a whole host of falsehoods were true. The former president repeated lies about widespread fraud in the 2020 election.

He parroted a conspiracy theory about immigrants eating pets, and lied about Democrats supporting abortions after babies are born " which is murder, and illegal everywhere."

And, yet again, you don't know Jack about the 2nd Amendment:

"A fraud on the American public."

That's how former Chief Justice Warren Burger described the idea that the Second Amendment gives an unfettered individual right to a gun. Swift signed the message with her name, followed by the title "Childless Cat Lady," a reference to JD Vance's now-famous insult toward Democratic women, which he has faced backlash for.

In the endorsement, Swift also mentioned false AI impersonations of herself endorsing Trump, which she said made her worried about misinformation.

"It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter," Swift said."

That was one of the more bizarre things I've seen in my years of observing elections which first caught my attention in 4th grade as my grandfather was on the ballot for re-election as Justice of the Peace.

Living through the Nixon years, political science degree, law degree, just general interest in the body politic that performance was weird. As typically seen in multiple presidential debates neither ever answered a question. One tried to articulate some semblance of unity the other just ranted about "stuff" that that may get him elected. "Doug Gordon " Kamala Harris won...

Tonight was all about the small number of voters who are undecided and will decide who wins in November, not either party's base.

For that group, Trump had to win over people who don't like him while Harris had to win over people who wanted to hear more about her.

For Harris, mission accomplished. She effectively laid out her vision for the country and contrasted it with Trump's.

While Trump showed the same erratic, incoherent and brute behavior that repels undecided voters.

Going into tonight Harris had the most to gain and lose. And she came out with a big win."

"The moderators allowed Trump to interrupt way more than Harris." - First off, no they didn't. Trump's mic was muted while she was speaking. So, let's dispense with this lie right now.

They "fact-checked" Trump a number of times, and on the issue of a baby surviving an abortion were flat-out wrong, and never once fact-checked Harris. WIth rare exceptions their questions were along the lines of, "President Trump, you have been accused of being a horrible human being about X and Y, how do you defend that?" After Trump takes the bait, their follow-up to Harris was usually along the lines of, "Former president Trump was accused of being a horrible person about X and Y, now that he's responded do you think he's still a horrible person on those issues?"

Harris was never fact-checked once, and she told some whoppers. Debate moderators have NO business fact-checking live but if they are going to do it they need to do it to both candidates. They didn't. In the CNN debate the moderators kind of faded into the background and the debate was between the 2 candidates. In this one they inserted themselves into the debate on behalf of Kamala Harris. They actually did Harris a disservice. She won the debate and it's going to come with an asterisk and I think, based upon what I saw, she would have won the debate without their help.

#196 I'm guessing by tomorrow a media outlet will have timed how much Trump spoke vs how much Harris spoke broken down into minutes and seconds, e.g. 'Trump spoke for 45 minutes and 4 seconds and Harris spoke for 44 minutes and 48 seconds' If a disparity exists that is clearly in Trump's favor I will cede that the moderators did a poor job of failing to cut him off and mute his mic when his time was up.

I was shocked when the moderators pointed out a couple of major Harris flip-flops (they failed to mention quite a number of other ones, but I digress) and asked her to explain her change of view. I was shocked because it seemed like the only time during the debate they asked Harris a challenging question.

He just got the spin notes.

It's really weird for him to now go off about something he wasn't that passionate about half an hour ago.

You know it's spin when the side complaining about the moderators candidate had almost 6 extra minutes of speaking time - which could have been used to articulate objections as they occurred. It's too late to complain when you got extra minutes and your candidate wasn't disciplined enough to rebut what you now think influenced your candidate's obviously poor performance.

This is just the epitome of unearned, undeserved white privilege. You already get an extra 5 plus minutes that your opponent didn't to say whatever you wanted to. Then after it's over, you claim victim status at the hands of the evil moderators because your candidate didn't have the poise or intelligence to use that extra time positively. Instead he used almost every second to demean, denigrate, insult, and lie about his opponent.

That's not an ABC problem, that's a Trump problem.

"Wahh it's not fair when moderators correct flagrant lies!

#228 | POSTED BY SPEAKSOFTLY"

It's not their role. They are ill-equipped to do so on the fly. Example: When David Muir cited Trump's comment that he lost 2020 by a whisker and Trump responded that he was being sarcastic Muir followed, not with a 'fact-check', but an opinion.

"I didn't detect any sarcasm."

That is absolutely ridiculous. Further, Trump was (shockingly!) poor at articulating, but when he commented about "murdering babies outside of the womb" he was referencing comments made by former governor Northam who flat-out said that after a botched abortion if the baby came out alive the doctors and parents should be allowed to go into keep the baby comfortable (like with a dying elderly person) until it expires without providing any kind of life-affirming care. Northam flat-out said that and Trump's recitation of that got 'fact-checked.' Meanwhile, ZERO fact-checks of Harris's lies, and she had plenty of them. It's not the job of the moderators to fact-check - it's the job of the debate opponents to do so. But if the moderators decide to fact-check it absolutely needs to be done across the board. Didn't happen.

#240 | Posted by REDIAL at 2024-09-11 01:22 AM

The moderators allowed Trump to speak 39 times while Kamala only spoke 23 times. Also, the moderators gave Trump five more minutes of airtime than they gave Kamala. Hardly putting their thumbs on the scale.

Agreed. Which is why ABC did her a total disservice by tilting the questions and 'fact-checks' so much to benefit her.

Harris gets rightly derided for being terrible off-script. She wasn't "good" tonight by any real stretch, but she was prepared and did enough to prove she can handle speaking off-the-cuff for about 40 minutes without being a train-wreck. She had assistance from the moderators but even without that she memorized plenty of decent talking-points to plow through this debate.

#242 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-09-11 01:26 AM

"A few examples?

#240 | POSTED BY REDIAL"

The first ones that immediately leap to mind occurred during the same answer - "Good people on both sides" and "bloodbath". Clear lies about what was actually said and both thoroughly debunked. If the moderators hadn't already been 'fact-checking' Trump I would have been totally fine with them letting her slide on those. She had plenty of others, but those are the ones that jumped out because they occurred in rapid-fire and were so blatant.

#248 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2024-09-11 01:48 AM

Clear lies

This is what's so maddening about you. In fact checking lingo, those statements "needs context." Trump indeed spoke both and is quoted correctly. If there's implication that Trump was calling neo-nazi's "fine people" he wasn't. But within the context of his remarks the truth is really this:

Editors' Note: Some readers have raised the objection that this fact check appears to assume Trump was correct in stating that there were "very fine people on both sides" of the Charlottesville incident. That is not the case. This fact check aimed to confirm what Trump actually said, not whether what he said was true or false. For the record, virtually every source that covered the Unite the Right debacle concluded that it was conceived of, led by and attended by white supremacists, and that therefore Trump's characterization was wrong.

www.snopes.com

And with the bloodbath comment, Harris didn't articulate a specific context either, just like Trump's original statement he claims was aimed at the economy, not potential post election violence. She only quoted Trump's own words without adding any context on her own. That is not a lie.
"Donald Trump, the candidate, has said in this election there will be a blood bath if this, and the outcome of this election, is not to his liking."
No attribution to any act or policy, just an accurate quote that allows the listener to put it in their own context. She didn't foretell violence either unless you chose to hear that in her spoken words.

You can't be on both sides, Bell. Your first complaint is the mirror opposite of your second. Completely irrational and total situational bias. You see what you want to see and then get mad when others don't. And that's because what you think you see, isn't actually there.

#249 | Posted by tonyroma at 2024-09-11 01:54 AM

Trump was in a foul mood when he went into the spin room (which has never happened after a debate before). THEN, he found out about Taylor Swift's endorsement. Ass kicked by two women in an hour and a half.

I'll bet Trump's pilots watched the debate. No doubt they hid the catsup.

#250 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2024-09-11 02:00 AM

Tony Roma,

Stop spinning.

I know the full context of what Trump actually said and how she framed it during the debate. And as I've already said, my issue isn't with her being dishonest. It's with the moderators for selectively 'fact-checking' Trump, and on a couple of occasions doing so dishonestly, and letting her slide for those I mentioned (and others).

I expect politicians to lie and distort, especially regarding their opponents positions during a campaign. I knew Harris would bust out those lies and always felt it was on Trump to rebut them. He kinda sorta did, but wasn't overly coherent in the process.

My criticism is solely on the moderators - might as well just have Nancy Pelosi moderate relative to how the ABC moderators performed.

#254 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2024-09-11 02:14 AM

My criticism is solely on the moderators

But your examples didn't need moderation because neither were lies. They had nothing to fact check in either instance. Context is not fact checked because if something isn't said, only implied - the whole thing becomes subjective.

The moderators didn't harm Trump has much as Trump harmed Trump and Harris sliced him up like a Christmas ham.

And no one cares that the ham is mad at the knife.

Sane-Washing Trump's Craziness and Lies is so cute.

The problem was Harris simply didn't get much wrong so the very basic fact checking didn't happen for her.

I'm sorry but Harris was pretty factually accurate throughout the debate. The best you have is things like "this is out of context", "that is a high estimate but we aren't sure yet", and "this number isn't up to date with September data."

Donald was telling crazy ass, easily disproven lies. That's why he got fact checked a few times and they let slip 95% of the rest of his lies.

It's absolutely incredible that Trump and his supporters actual believe that he should be allowed to consistently and repeatedly lie with impunity, and for the handful of times he was fact checked in real time, and in doing so constitutes egregious conduct on behalf of the moderators.

ABC rightly fact checked Trump on the Springfield Ohio lie because if they didn't and one of Trump's deranged supporters started targeting immigrant Haitians with threats of violence or intimidation, they'd have been complicit in whatever happened since it's easily provable that ABC knew the factual truth that Trump indeed was lying.

Trump's and the right wing fever swamp's lies have already gotten people injured and killed, while death threats are hurled at those Trump targets as antagonists - such as judges and their own family members having nothing to do or any connection to Trump whatsoever outside of not being his fans.

In Trump's world, those that don't like him should be subject to incarceration - while he ignores the mounting convictions he's trying to fight himself in the attempt to stay out of prison after random groups of 12 impartial citizens heard evidence and testimony and returned guilty charges against him in multiple court and grand jury rooms.

No one ever admits that governor Northam was right about the abortion issue

#305 | Posted by truthhurts at 2024-09-11 11:11 AM

Northam flat-out said that and Trump's recitation of that got 'fact-checked.' Meanwhile, ZERO fact-checks of Harris's lies, and she had plenty of them. It's not the job of the moderators to fact-check - it's the job of the debate opponents to do so. But if the moderators decide to fact-check it absolutely needs to be done across the board. Didn't happen.

#305 | Posted by truthhurts

Just to point out how dumb Jeff is and why the Fact Checkers didn't "Fact Check" Harris...

IT'S BECAUSE YOU ARE LYING, JEFF

Northam was giving a hypothetical example of what could happen if a mother whose fetus had severe deformities, or wasn't otherwise viable, requested an abortion while in labor.

"If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen," Northam says in a video from the 2019 interview being shared online. "The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother."

Fox is reporting that the moderators fact-checked Trump 5 times and Harris 0 times. Since they gave him 5 extra minutes of speaking time and 6 more opportunities to speak--as well as the fact that he told many more lies than she did--it seems like a pretty fair trade off and ultimately a pretty even debate playing field to me.

#307 | Posted by Gal_Tuesday at 2024-09-11 12:44 PM

Trump told 33 falsehoods and they only corrected 5:

CNN Fact Check of the debate: This was a staggeringly dishonest debate performance from former President Trump. Just lie after lie on subject after subject by my preliminary count, he made at least 33 false claims.

Kamala, OTOH, told one falsehood:

You just illustrated how big of a night VP Harris had ...

Fr. Guido Sarducci says, "drink-ah two of-ah you favorite beer and you gotta you absolution."

#309 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2024-09-11 01:19 PM

You talking about the question to Trump: "Would you veto a national abortion ban?"

#310 | Posted by mOntecOre at 2024-09-11 03:21 PM

" "transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison"

thats the trump line of the night.

Here is the crazy thing. That is an accurate statement. On a questionnaire she filled out for the ACLU four years after ago that is something she advocated for.

She whooped his @$$ in the debate.
She baited him, and like a hungry catfish, 'Whomp, whomp!', he took the bait every time...

She sounded more articulate, more on point w her answers, more Presidential. Trump sounded ready for his medication call at the Old Home. Talking crazy talk about immigrants scooping up dogs and eating them in the streets...roflmao!

This election choice is OVER for rationale people.

It waits to be seen how many 'Cray Cray Folk' still out there to vote for their blatantly racist Donald...

Is there any length you wouldn't go to in order to suck Trump's dick.

What Trump says and what you linked aren't the same thing.

For a person who loves to debate semantics. You're being awfully lenient with your "proof".

WHO the F cares??

Your Party's candidate is a criminal traitor... that should pretty much end the discussion of him being qualified to hold the highest office in the Land.

The People can decide that they don't want a criminal traitor in Office as President, and if they think that's the most important issue; to keep someone out of the Office who tried to illegally game the Electoral System.

If that's not the highest priority in this election, I don't know what is:

our democracy itself is at stake when an authoritarian cult leader dumb enough to file Bankruptcy 6 times tried to have States Electors, who are now in prison... have them basically mark out Biden's name on the State Certified Ballot and replace it with Trump's.

That this doesn't seem to bother you at all is rather disturbing.

#315 it's obvious what you think is important.

That was the post where you were supposed to tell me how what I said is incorrect... not the post where you whine like Trump when he was getting Kamala'ed last nite.

We know, Jeff.

Trying to overthrow the government and kill the VP isn't a problem for you.
Rape isn't a problem for you.
Raping 13 year olds isn't a problem for you.
Trump the Pedophile isn't a problem for you.

These last things almost seem like a plus to you. Says a lot about you.

convicted felon, a pathological liar and a sex abuser for President of the United States.

Yeah!

'Member when Biden and Harris tried to stay in office through illegal and violent means?

Me neither.

Policy differences are one thing, Painless... being a criminal and a traitor is it's own higher level of concern to any actually patriotic American.

You know, one who puts the safety of a democratic Country with a tradition, and laws, about the peaceful transfer of Federal power ahead of Party policy.

Gotta be rough.
Every prominent Republican (not the losers that are all MAGAts that hide behind the name "Republican") seem to be going on record to support a Democrat over the mentally addled orange buffoon whose best "friends" are fascists and dictators.
