You live in a small timeframe, but you imagine its the only timeframe. You don't see generations, you only see yourself. Boomers, have taken the Western idea of the individual to such an extreme that it might just wipe out Western civilization.

Unlimited tolerance leads to the disappearance of tolerance. The West shouldn't censor dangerous ideas, as long as the opposing ideology remains willing to engage rationally. I think those that shot up Charlie Hebdo offices ended the idea they would engage rationally with Western ideals.

Naomi Klein has a good book on this issue, and why Clinton's team was against Russia being in NATO.

Russia has all the resources the EU/NATO would ever need, imagine why the US wants to keep Russia as an "enemy". People on here talk about how the Elites like to keep Americans divided ... think about that policy between Europe and Russia, silly Russia isn't integrated in to Europe.

Growing up in the US, I was pretty much a die-hard libertarian. Because I believed that a strong government that had the power to do good, also had the power to do bad. But living here, I see government that provides rights but also demands responsibility. And that changed my mind on a lot of things.

This is a reasonable take, but my longer term take is that the more you give into it, it will always, eventually do bad, and will bring you back to your libertarian roots.

As evidenced by the lack of ANY recommendations or suggestions. Just condemnation...for being too soft-hearted.

Pleading the Fifth outside of your own trial, must be because you reasonably apprehend a risk of self-incrimination in future prosecution.
Fauci received a pardon of more than a decade from President Biden, there is no federal prosecution he could fear.

If he told the truth, the pardon absolves him of the need and ability to plead the Fifth.
