... and back to the topic of this thread ...
... Prospective speaker of the House Hakeem Jeffries on Wednesday hailed the "American tsunami" of Democratic victories in US congressional elections that handed the party control of both chambers of Congress. ...
All the Democrats have "won" in this election is a rental of the two houses of Congress.
Not long-term ownership of those two houses of Congress.
One question that now lingers for me is the following ...
The Democrats have been able to move a lot of Independents and moderate Republicans to vote for them in this election.
But what will the Democrats do now with that new found support?
Will they do the usual Democratic fumble and seem to actively chase away that new-found support because of progressives?
Or might the Democrats move towards the left-center to maintain that support on a longer term?
The Republicans went full in with MAGA's radical views, and looked what happened to them.
Will Democrats learn from what seems to be so obvious in front of them?
My guess, at this point, they will not learn, and that they will strive to mess up any hope of chances in 2028.
But that is just my opinion.
Will the Democrats show my opinion to be wrong?
Time will tell ...
