You are not alone in your situation in life.
I was raised in an environment that, once something was identified as the target of public hate, everyone had to hate it or be hated themselves.
The social pressures for this started way before high school.
It explains much of the "attraction" of MAGA. It explains so much generally.
It explains why I don't discuss politics socially in my Texas town, at least in person.
This itself is a form of conformity based on fear.
Yes, I fear my neighbors, most of them. They live their lives going from one knee-jerk to the other. It's no mystery why that tired old insult "communist" is being dusted off for this election cycle.
I fear you, BILL. Neither reason nor mercy keeps you from going along with hurting me.
