Mortgage Rates Climb to over 7%

Makes me laugh... my first home was 15.5%... the going rate... and I did it on a 5-year balloon owner carryback... the only way I could swing it... I refinanced it early on with an adjustable that topped out at 9% and bottomed at 6%... I was thrilled to get a loan like that... it stayed at 6% for 8 years until I sold it... Then I paid for my second house all cash... fixer-upper... my third all cash... "handyman's delight"... my fourth all cash... fixer-upper... and my final... "handyman's delight"... all cash.

They haven't been fancy...
Sometimes it felt like I settled for less... but I found myself in some surprisingly good zip codes... It took a little patience... a lot of shopping at Walmart and Dollar whatever... Home Depot and Lowes... thank the Goddess for Harbor Freight!

When I sense life is becoming unaffordable where I am... taxes, insurance etc... I start shopping elsewhere... and it takes a few years...not months... years... researching affordable... safe... areas and watching the market... while planning to stay in that home at least 10 years.

It seems to me people treat mortgages like lease agreements... then... when they decide to move... they are shocked when the rent goes up... their home won't give them the expected return after 5 years... There is no way in heaven or hell... I could afford to live like that!

Especially when job turnover rates are so high... smh...fp... omg

Youngun's are preached old-time homeownership values... when that world no longer exists.

It's already been ruled constitutional by the Supremes.

Because the 11% tax you are referring to only applies to commercial retailers and vendors, rather than being a direct constraint on an individual's personal right to own a gun.

Creating ANY impediments to free Exercise of the Vote is Voter SUPPRESSION.

Threats, Poll Taxes, Grandfather Clauses, The Elimination of polling Sites in Urban or Majority Black Areas to make Voting a Huge investment of time and energy.

Suburban Voting is a snap, I've never waited more than five minutes to vote in any election.

Go into the inner city and it a 4 to 5 hour ordeal in many cases.

All By DESIGN.

The threat to democracy is NOT VOTER FRAUD,IT'S VOTER SUPPRESSION.

At least 3.8 million adult American citizens do not have a birth certificate or other citizenship documents (like a passport or naturalization papers) at all. Additionally, over 21.3 million voting-age Americans (about 9.1%) do not have these documents readily available.

The problem in New Jersey stems from people being registered to vote while obtaining a driver's license. The company issuing the licenses weren't required to check for voter eligibility.

Here's a ------' clue, quit handing out driver's licenses to people who are in the country illegally.

How many of the 30,000 actually voted? I have no idea. But I can tell you that every one of them knew they shouldn't have registered to vote. Smells like intent to me.

More: Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said in July that he found 15,903 noncitizen voters on Nevada's voter rolls. The New York Times on Thursday reported that a follow-up meeting between DHS officials and Nevada election officers revealed that the number was wildly incorrect.

"So what you're saying is the 15,000 number has not been vetted?" Nevada Secretary of State Chief Deputy C. Murphy Hebert asked in the August meeting.

"I probably wouldn't use the sentence, It hasn't been vetted,'" Homeland Security Secretary Kimberley Vogt said. "Because definitely we've done something with it to get down to 15,000. So I wouldn't say that. But it hasn't had a full manual review of each one." She also stated that they were not saying that only 185 people on the voter roll were noncitizens, but that those 185 definitely were. But that was wrong too.

"As for the 185 individuals, our records indicate that they were citizens," Nevada Deputy Attorney General Greg Ott wrote in a letter to DHS this week. "You have provided nothing of substance to suggest otherwise."

When I voted by mail during Covid, my ballot was placed inside an envelope, which I then sealed. On that envelope, I could enter either my driver's license # or the last 4 digits of my SS# so my voter eligibility could be confirmed BEFORE the ballot was processed. I entered my choice, signed it (when I vote in person I have to sign the line next to my name on the voter roll), put it in another envelope, which I then sealed. I then put that envelope into another envelope to mail it to the county courthouse to be processed.

I could follow the processing of my ballot online. I mailed it on a Friday, it was received on Saturday and processed on Monday.

I am sure that every state follows a similar procedure for mail in ballots.

I think of Stockholm. 45F there. 40F is the coldest San Francisco gets and it's a paradise like 75F high, and that might as well be the frozen tundra compared to Houston's 105F summers.

I've seen a thin layer of snow once since Covid. Even when the Republicans tried to freeze us all to death through incompetence, there still wasn't snow here.

Socialism is an economic system where the workers own the means of production. I don't know of anyone calling themselves a "socialist" would support this.

I think there is a backroom agreement between progressives and conservatives to keep using this term. For conservatives, it is a pejorative. For progressives, it is a badge of honor.

And Europeans think that both sides are ------- crazy when they say Europe is socialist. It's not. Not even close.

I don't think any of you would be ready for Norway. Sitz didn't even get it. The weather in Norway is the worst weather I've ever experienced, and I lived eight years in North Dakota. Because it's going to be a while before they see it again. Until they come to Germany next month.
