Kirk and Uhura's kiss
en.wikipedia.org

... In the episode of Star Trek: The Original Series titled "Plato's Stepchildren", season 3 episode 10, first broadcast November 22, 1968, Uhura (played by Black American actress Nichelle Nichols) and Captain Kirk (played by white actor William Shatner) kiss.

The episode is often cited"incorrectly"as the first interracial kiss on television.[1][2] It was, however, the first instance in which a kiss between a black person and a white person on a regular U.S. television show was scripted, as an earlier kiss on Movin' with Nancy was unscripted.[3]

The episode aired one year after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down nationwide laws prohibiting interracial marriage.[4] ...

Fact check: There's no evidence Donald Trump helped with 9/11 response (September 2020)
www.usatoday.com

... President Donald Trump has made many public comments about his memories of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Some of his claims have become popular memes among his supporters.

"Two days after the 9/11 attack Trump was at Ground Zero with hundreds of workers that he paid of his own pocket to help find and identify victims. He's been a patriot to the country he loves forever," a viral meme spread widely across Facebook reads.

Trump made a somewhat similar claim himself on Sept. 11, 2019, claiming that after seeing the attacks, he joined support efforts at Ground Zero alongside his employees.

"Soon after, I went down to Ground Zero with men who worked for me to try to help in any little way that we could," the president said during remarks at the Pentagon. "We were not alone. So many others were scattered around trying to do the same. They were all trying to help."

There is no evidence that Trump helped with efforts at Ground Zero. Emergency responders who coordinated response efforts have cast doubt on the president's claims.

The image often used in viral memes is also not at Ground Zero. ...

Trump also erroneously claimed that a building he owned, 40 Wall St., was now the tallest skyscraper in New York City. The building was slightly shorter than 70 Pine St., another building near 40 Wall St. in Lower Manhattan.

In the days following the attacks, emergency workers at Ground Zero sifted through rubble and debris, attempting to find the fallen.

"I was there for several months -- I have no knowledge of his being down there," Richard Alles, a New York Fire Department battalion chief during 9/11, told PolitiFact.

"There would be a record of it," Alles continued. "Everybody worked under direct supervision of the police and fire department and the joint commander for emergency services.

"Is there a chance he was ever down there by himself and I didn't know it? It's possible, but I know of no one who ever witnessed him there."

There are no reports from the time that show that a large contingent of workers hired by or working alongside Trump were helping with the cleanup. ...

Trump Appears to Be Making Stuff Up About 9/11. Again. (September 2021)
www.vice.com

... "We were hearing creaks"I've never forgotten it, it was I think the United States Steel Building it was called at the time, it was 50 stories tall, and we heard creaks. I said, That building is going to come down,' and two big firemen grabbed me, and grabbed other people, and they just moved out of that area. Never came down, but I never heard a noise like that. And it was a scary situation."

It appears that this is a new claim -- it doesn't appear that he's made it publicly in his past recollections of the events. On 9/11 itself, Trump indicated that he watched that attack from afar"and actually made sure to note that the Twin Towers' collapse meant he now owned the tallest building in Lower Manhattan. ...

Though Trump did go down near Ground Zero in the days after the attack, there's no evidence that he helped"and some evidence that he didn't follow through on promises to help.

That included a 2001 pledge to Howard Stern to donate $10,000 to the Twin Towers Fund, the official 9/11 charity program. The program didn't receive that money in the months after 9/11, and had no record that he ever made the donation, according to a 2016 audit.

By contrast, Trump cashed in on a post-9/11 program created to help Manhattan businesses impacted by the attacks, receiving a $150,000 grant from the program for his 40 Wall Street property near the site. He claimed that it was "reimbursement" for his helping shelter people at the building. But records from the state office which administered the recovery program show that Trump's company asked for those funds not to pay for their good samaritan efforts but for "rent loss," "cleanup" and "repairs." ...

Trump has also previously claimed he lost "hundreds of friends" on 9/11, though he's refused to say who they were. ...

More from the article ...

... A D.C. Circuit panel ruled Tuesday that a data sharing agreement between the Internal Revenue Service and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that allows the immigration agency to make mass requests for immigrants' addresses was illegal.

The three-judge panel upheld a federal judge's decision to stay the IRS from disclosing additional addresses to ICE after the tax agency had already turned over more than 47,000 records ultimately deemed unlawful.

U.S. Circuit Judge Cornelia Pillard, writing the court's 32-page opinion, explained Congress has only authorized the IRS to disclose tax-return information to other federal agencies to use in specific non-tax criminal investigations, so long as the requesting agency can provide details about the individual under investigation.

"After the Watergate scandal exposed executive branch abuses of U.S. taxpayers' information to harass the administration's enemies, Congress enacted a prohibition against the IRS sharing tax return information with any other federal agency unless the requesting agency meets stringent conditions," the Barack Obama appointee wrote. "The procedure failed to ensure that ICE's requests complied with statutory requirements. The IRS nonetheless began using the procedure to disclose tens of thousands of records."

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly ruled in February the IRS violated its own code "approximately 42,695 times" for each instance it disclosed last known taxpayer addresses to ICE even when their requests were insufficient. ...

"He was a private citizen at the time, not everything he did was documented."

Not entirely true.

Here's an article from September 10th, 2016 where Trump says he watched the whole thing from Trump Towers.

www.politico.com

FTA: "I saw the whole thing," Trump told Stern, saying he had windows from which he could see the World Trade Center. "I mean, specifically, I have two windows that are focused on the building."

It's also confirmed in the article: "We saw it," said George Ross, a longtime attorney for Trump and an executive vice president of the Trump Organization. "We saw it out the window. I was sitting in his office."

So. They were both in his office. Watching it happen. Had Trump taken any other action, he would have mentioned it.

This recent tall tale by Trump about his heroism is nothing but lies and boolsheeet.

Excerpt from Trading with the Enemy (Page 223, Charles Higham, 1983):

"As for General Aniline and Film, that indestructible organ of The Fraternity, all efforts against it by Hans Morgenthau and his successors in the Treasury proved futile. Robert F. Kennedy as Attorney General protected the company from dissolution " in his father's tradition. On 9 March 1965, GAF was sold in the largest competitive auction in Wall Street history. The buyer, offering 5340 million, was an affiliate of I.G. Farben in Germany.

Those who had opposed The Fraternity were not so fortunate. In 1948 the House Un-American Activities Committee, in one of its unbridled smear campaigns, named Morgenthau's trusted associates Harry Dexter White and Lauchlin Currie as communist agents. Based on the uncorroborated testimony of one Elizabeth Bentley, a self-confessed Soviet spy who was turning state's evidence, the Morgenthau Treasury administration was smeared in the eyes of the public.

White and Currie, those deeply loyal enemies of fascism, those investigators of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), of Standard Oil, the Chase, the National City Bank, the Morgans, William Rhodes Davis, the Texas Company, ITT, RCA, SKF, GAF, Ford, and General Motors, were effectively destroyed by the hearings. Currie disappeared into Colombia, his US citizenship canceled in 1956, and White died of a heart attack on 16 August 1948, aged fifty-six, after returning home from an investigative session.

While the surviving Fraternity figures flourished again, helping to form the texture of postwar technology, those who had dared to expose them were finished. The Fraternity leaders who had died could sleep comfortably in their graves " their dark purpose accomplished."
