Sounds a bit excessive if you have to take all of them, but I wouldn't want pure science students to be able to avoid the humanities or social sciences taught at that level.
Given all those requirements, are students still getting enough of their major education to be immediately employable? Apparently so.

Take all the scientists, sociologists, and nail technicians in the country. If people can't even agree on word definitions, all the education available is not going to help.
